Romans 14:17 says, “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Joy is one third of the Kingdom of God. So often we hear about the righteousness of God and the peace of God, but joy is just as important!
According to Galatians 5:22 one of the fruits of the Spirit is joy. Fruit is grown. Therefore, joy is something than can be grown in your life. Joshua 1:8 teaches us how to grow the fruits of the Spirit in our lives, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.”
Meditating on the Word of God plants seeds in our hearts and, if cultivating over time, that seed grows and produces fruit. A seed can only reproduce according to it’s DNA. Thus, by meditating on scriptures you will begin to see fruit grow.
