Jesus invites us to follow Him, to manifest and reflect Him. Following Jesus meets His longing for us to display His heart and character to everyone in our world. He wants us to influence our sphere of involvement.
This would be utterly impossible to do without having Holy Spirit alive on the inside of us. The “Good News” is that because He does live inside of us – we can! Perhaps the biggest challenge that comes with following Jesus is to live constantly from a place of such closeness with Him. This is what enables us to love like He did, to love everyone and everything that He has made.
What Does Following Jesus Look Like?
Following Jesus has little to do with being a ‘good’ Christian. It everything to do with representing God and His Kingdom on Earth. How we think and act indicates the heart and spirit that’s inside us. Anything that emanates from us that does not come from a tender heart of love isn’t reflecting the Christ we claim to follow.
We don’t, inside ourselves, have the capacity to always being loving. The sooner we stop trying to accomplish His will in our ability and emotions the quicker we can rely on Him. God can show us how to draw on, rely on and facilitate what lives in our spirit.
How Are You Following Jesus?
Following is 98% about heart and motive not dogma, rules and observance. This 40 Day Challenge is to coax you to look again at the life and heart of Jesus and allow Holy Spirit to bring you revelation.
Ask yourself a few questions. Are you a follower of a religion or a person? Do you know the difference?
John 15:9 – “I love each of you with the same love that the Father loves me. You must continually let my love nurture your hearts.”
1 John 4:7 – “Those of you who are loved by God, let his love continually pour out of you to one another, because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate ‘knowing’ of Him.”
