The dictionary definition of displacement is, “the removal of something from its normal place by something which then occupies that place or position”. Synonyms include: shift/ move/ disturbance/ dislocation.
When something is displaced it is replaced by something else. Rather than trying to remove something, something else is introduced which then dislodges and replaces the original.
For many years Christians have battled to subdue, overcome and disempower the things that don’t conform with or reflect being a follower of Jesus. We are, of course, in a battle with a real enemy who wants to disarm and disable us.

What if the most effective and least painful way of doing this is to shift our focus? Imagine focusing on Kingdom life and intimacy with Jesus and allowing what flows from that to displace the things we try to conquer!
This fundamentally alters our view of everything. To shift our perspective will change how we see God, ourselves, our world, our environment, prayer, worship, the Bible, leadership, church programmes and especially spiritual warfare. In many instances, a powerful way to defeat evil and demonic activity is to simply gaze into the face of God. Viewing everything from the Father’s lap is a powerful place.
If we want to know greater joy and fulfillment then we need to stop being robbed by comparing ourselves to others. Are you longing for greater love to emanate from us? Then we must jettison the expectation of other people. If we want to experience greater grace then we must lose any critical or judgmental attitude towards others.
Displacement and occupying
Allowing Holy Spirit to occupy our spirit more and more and spending significant, quality time with Jesus and Father will, sooner or later, displace, to a greater or lesser degree, the things that prevent us enjoying the abundant life Jesus invites us to enjoy.
Be intentional! Change your focus! Watch the displacement occur and shift what you have struggled with for so long. Alter how you invest your time. Move from battling to basking. Shift from struggle to rest and from striving to being.
What does the Bible say?
For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; this is the victory that has conquered and overcome evil – our continuing and persistent faith in Jesus the Son of God. – 1 John 5:4
I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect, life in its fullness until you overflow. – John 10:10
Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life union with Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of His explosive power flowing in and through you. –
God, your wrap around presence is my protection and my defense. You bring victory to all who are in You. – Psalm 7:10
– Navigator Jo
