A Lifestyle Of Thankfulness Or A Season? Which Are You Living?

Being thankful doesn't have to be reserved for one holiday. It is a lifestyle and daily choice!

A Lifestyle Of Thankfulness Or A Season? Which Are You Living?

Are you living a lifestyle of thankfulness, or, are you just celebrating for a season? As we are knee-deep into November, a season of thankfulness, everyone is talking about all the things they are thankful for. In fact, some are even doing 30 days of all the things they are thankful for.

I love this!

We should be thankful. By looking at our life, the people, the things, and expressing gratitude for all that we have, we are expressing thankfulness. This is so important, as a person, and as a child of God. But, shouldn’t we be thankful 360 days a year? 30 days are great. But 360 days are much better! More than a season of thankfulness is now a lifestyle of thankfulness.

I am not trying to downplay the season of thankfulness and all the people truly looking at their lives and showing gratitude. Rather, I am saying, why not be thankful EVERY DAY? Isn’t that true thankfulness? Isn’t that a lifestyle of thankfulness? I bet, if each of us took a moment, we could find one thing, EVERY DAY, to be thankful for. Even small things… I am thankful for that first cup of coffee in the morning. I truly look forward to it!

Are you living a lifestyle of thankfulness?

God tells us to be thankful in all things…

“in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

What does this mean?

As we abide in Christ, we become thankful, because we are more like Him. Thankfulness is from the Father. He is thankful, it is one of His attributes. So, it makes sense that we would be more like Him, thus taking on His attributes.

This is not just a season. Paul tells us in this section of scripture “in everything give thanks”. That means every part of your life. He goes on to tell us that this “attitude of gratitude” is God’s will for us, once we are in Christ.

Are you living a lifestyle of thankfulness?

The best part of this is what happens when we are thankful. Just as we are changed when we choose to receive Christ, our minds are also changed. At this moment, our season of thankfulness makes a transformation into a lifestyle of thankfulness.

Our life actually becomes better, just by being thankful.

Think about it, don’t you feel better when you appreciate all that God has done? I know I do. Not only that, isn’t it fun to think about all those amazing blessings in your life and thank the One who gave them to you? Become someone who lives not just a season but a lifestyle of thankfulness.
