Throughout salvation history, God has always had “an army of intercessors” which are also called, “intercessory missionaries”.
Can you believe that they will be active until the soon-coming return of Jesus Christ? Want to join an army?
From History To Hope
This exciting new episode of From History To Hope called, “An Army of Intercessors” airs on Friday, December 27th at 21:00 GMT (UK) and 9 p.m. Eastern (USA). Watch it live on GOD TV and share it with friends!
In this episode, I visit ancient Ireland, Wales, and the International House of Prayer in Kansas City U.S.A. (IHOP KC). In all of these places, I discover how God has always had a group of strategic “intercessory missionaries” scattered throughout time and history. They are on God’s timetable to see history changed.
“Army” in Scripture
In this episode, I interview Mike Bickle, Director of IHOP KC, and he shares amazing insights with us from Isaiah 62 & other scriptures, like Psalm 24.
“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; all day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves and give Him no rest until He establishes and make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Isaiah 62:6-7)
Mike explains that these “watchmen” (both men and women) are active in the Spirit realm. They are “intercessory missionaries” until Jesus comes again and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. He shared with me, “We’re doing the work of missions – from intercession.”
An Army of Intercessors in Salvation History
I travel back in time to the 5th to 10th centuries to Ireland first, to a unique Celtic-Christian area called Bangor and specifically to a site named Nendrum Monastery.
At Nendrum, we discover one of the most incredible artifacts still surviving that gives us a picture of the prayer and worship life of these monks. They prayed and worshipped 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! (You’ll have to watch the Episode to see the artifact…)!
I then visit the Bible College of Wales and speak with 80-year-old Brian Halliwell himself. He is an “intercessory missionary” from the 1960s to the present day. Brian shares how in the time of Rees & Samuel Howells and his own time at the Bible College, men and women literally sacrificed their lives and homes to become a community together who’s single mission was to praise, worship, and intercede for their whole lives.
Then Mike Bickle shares that there have been more than 15,000 intercessory missionaries in over 20 years at IHOP KC. I also speak with Jen Styles, one of the Leaders of IHOP KC, who shares 4 of the key values of the Prayer Room and what happens in there, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A Surprise Visit
At 3:00 a.m., I make a “surprise visit” to the Prayer Room during the Night Watch (a period of time from midnight to 6 a.m. that is very special to the intercessors in Kansas City). And together you and I will receive a unique anointing of the worship happening at that moment.
Ezekiel once declared, “I searched for a person among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land.” (Ezekiel 22:30)
You will even hear the voice of Rees Howells explain that the Holy Spirit today is the only true “Intercessor” on earth. He is seeking those who are spending time in intimacy with Jesus in His dwelling place to partner with him to pray and intercede for the land and for the events of history.
