As fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, it is our duty to pray for the Jewish people, who have arisen out of ancient Israel. We should want to see them walk in the full victory God has for them. God actually commands us in scripture to pray for His chosen people. He promised Abraham that the land of Canaan would be filled with his descendants (Genesis 12). Ancient Israel holds a special promise and place in God’s heart for all the world to see. Let’s come together as one, no matter what denomination we belong to, and lift up God’s holy city.
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love You be secure.’” (Psalm 122:6)
Like the Psalm says, God commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. This means, not just the city of Jerusalem, but the Jewish People worldwide… all who stem from ancient Israel. The word peace in this particular scripture is defined in the Hebrew as ‘safe, prosperity, health, perfect peace.’ God wants Israel walking in all of these and we get the opportunity to partner with Him in prayer today. Pray that God’s people would be surrounded by God’s protection, comfort, and peace. Pray that Israel’s Iron Dome would continue to deflect all missiles directed against it.
Ancient Israel and God’s Chosen People
Intercession is another step we can take today as true Bible believers. Let’s intercede for all who stem from ancient Israel. Intercession is asking God for a specific person or situation to pray for, and praying on their behalf until you see God’s promises fulfilled. Intercession and declaring who God says the people of ancient Israel are will transform the modern Jewish nation and end terror and division.
Find what God says about Israel by digging into God’s Word for yourself. Then start to declare that truth over ancient Israel and you will feel God’s heart over this nation that He loves. God says this truth over ancient Israel today in Isaiah 62:3, “You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.”
Pray for leaders and salvation
Israel needs godly leaders to rise up and take their place. Pray for salvation and courage for the nation’s leaders. Ask God to remove the veil from the people’s eyes 2 Corinthians 3:16 says: “But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” Pray that godly alliances would come together for Israel and surrounding countries including the USA. We need America to continue to support Israel through prayer and recognition.
Ancient Israel to prophetic future
What is the prophetic destiny of the nation of ancient Israel? The Bible shows us very clearly that the Jewish People are a nation of destiny, God’s chosen ones. Here are passages in scripture that truly show the prophetic destiny of Israel:
- “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Behold, I am going to save My people from the land of the east and from the land of the west; and I will bring them back and they will live in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God in truth and righteousness.’” (Zechariah 8:7-8)
- “Many peoples will come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.’ The law will go out from Zion, the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 2:3)
- “The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.” (Deuteronomy 30:5)
The promise over ancient Israel and the restoration of Jerusalem still stand true and we are seeing the beginning of this. Spiritual resistance that has tried to steal the purpose of God’s holy city and chosen people will be silenced and the name of Jesus will be lifted high as holy and true.
The blessings that will come
Not only will blessing come to ancient Israel when you pray, but you will be blessed by God. I believe true revival will break out in both Israel and elsewhere as we continue to believe and pray for the wellbeing of Israel. God didn’t command us to understand all that is happening in Israel but to simply continue to bless the nation. This will change the trajectory of the entire nation and lift up the name of Jesus, our Messiah! Don’t stop praying and believing for this holy nation.
“But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight.” (Isaiah 65:18)
