“But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love” (Psalm 33:18)
God scans the earth, seeking His children who have amplified hope in their hearts. How do you anticipate God’s goodness? Take captive thoughts which sow despair, discouragement, or fear, replacing them with biblical, hope-filled truths for your life. In doing so, carry encouraging testimonies of how God stepped into an impossible situation, changed a heart, or transformed an atmosphere through your “yes” to His goodness.
Get Your Hopes Up
Children model hope so well. Eagerly, they move from one activity to the next, completely immersed in the activity in front of them. They never forget to make their requests known to their caregivers either. Whether that’s a practical need, like a snack, or a fun request, like wanting to go to the park, their hearts anticipate goodness in the coming moments. Similarly, we get to live in this way with the Father. While we aren’t requesting ice cream each afternoon, we trust God and therefore His goodness to follow us in our lives (Psalm 100:5). Knowing this, we live with hope for our circumstances and entire lives.
Surround Yourself with People Who Anticipate God’s Goodness
Is your workplace filled with negativity? You can choose to be a hope-bringer in the midst. If inattentive, it becomes easy to match the culture of the places we inhabit, but you were called to transform the places you go. Often, this is done in very small mindset shifts. Instead of thinking on all that goes wrong, bring to mind everything that has gone right. Or, meditate with God on all the ways a “wrong” situation could be turned around with His help. Eagerly anticipate God’s goodness and be encouraged by the testimony that comes out of it!
