“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.” Isaiah 33:6
Do you feel as if you are in quicksand? Sinking…Struggling to come up for air? Whether traumatic circumstances have occurred or situations beyond your control are making you feel uncertain and uneasy awakening a desperate need for solid ground beneath your feet—there is hope.
Let God Be Your Sure Foundation.
A foundation holds a building steady and provides stability. No matter what leaves you shaken —an unexpected phone call, treatment of others, a life transition, a season shift—in the Bible, Christ is described as a “sure foundation for your times”.

What is the key to this treasure?
The fear of the Lord unlocks the wealth of salvation and wisdom and knowledge that God provides. What is the fear of the LORD? It is a reverence for the holiness and sovereignty of God that leads to a humble surrender and recognition of His Lordship in our lives. When we realize, friends, that He is the One we must depend on – that He is the One that supports us and enables us to face hardships and overcome them—we can stand on His promises and trust that He is holding us up, even when uncertainties arise and questions remain unanswered.
What hope knowing that when we have major, life-altering decisions to make, we are not alone! When we live surrendered to God’s plan, we can seek His guidance and await His direction knowing that He is listening. Our Heavenly Father is faithful to answer our prayers as we seek Him with our whole hearts. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Trust the LORD without wavering.
A major factor in trusting the LORD to be our sure foundation is not wavering or doubting His ability to lead and direct us. James 1:6 says, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” As we hold fast to His ability to carry us in the midst of devastating circumstances that catch us off guard or critical decisions that need to be made, we must have faith that He is able to answer us and not waver in our faith, which leads to us being tossed to and fro – a major reason why so many people feel shaken. We must also not allow distrust to cause cracks in our foundation. Even when Christ answers us in ways that we were not expecting or things turn out differently than we thought, we must still keep our eyes on God, knowing that His ways are higher than ours. His purposes will prevail. Remaining in faith and trusting the LORD is pivotal in staying steady.
Take Hold of His Treasure.
Who wouldn’t accept treasure that is readily available? Friends, Christ offers us such wealth: salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. Let us fear Him in the beauty of His holiness and rely on His ability to support us and carry us, especially when life tries to throw us a curveball and difficult circumstances bombard us. In our own strength, we get caught in “sinking sand” and can struggle to come up for air. However, when we release our striving and allow God to lift us up, He helps us rise above and provides solid footing for each step of faith we take. As we look back, we will be able to see how He supernaturally provided, answered, and cared for us at every point, which will be a beautiful reminder for us to continually depend on Christ’s sufficiency instead of our own. Let’s take hold of the irreplaceable treasure that God provides.
“So this is what the Sovereign LORD says, ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.’” Isaiah 28:16
