Asking The Hard Questions

We are called to choose to trust - even when we don't understand.

Asking The Hard Questions
Asking The Hard Questions

It’s a great question, a question many of us often ask God.  We want to understand the reason for the situation or circumstance we are asking about.  Proverbs 3:5 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”.  What does it mean to “lean not on our own understanding”?  It means that we surrender our why and choose to lean closer into Him and trust.  The key to trust, as we read here, is to trust with all your heart.  He’s not trying to torture us with uncertainty.  He’s inviting us into the most certain thing that has ever existed – Himself!  We can actually find comfort in letting go of our why and “leaning not on our own understanding”.

Another great question.  This little question can be very tempting.  It can tempt us with striving, trying to get us to make things happen in our own strength.  It can tempt us with anxiety, trying to get us to surrender our peace.  Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts”.  He’s not trying to keep us out of the loop.  He’s inviting us to not worry, but, again, trust Him with our hearts.  We can find comfort in letting go of our how and trusting that His ways and thoughts that are higher than ours.  Again, it all boils down to trust.

Are you ready to let go of your why or your how or maybe both?  Are you ready to trust Him at a deeper level?  If so, imagine yourself standing in front of Jesus.  Jesus is ready and willing for you to hand over your question(s) that have been creating mistrust in your relationship.  He’s standing with open arms as you hand over those words.  In His goodness, He refuses to leave us empty-handed. Allow Him to give you another word in exchange.

May you be delivered from the mistrusting places in your heart and be filled with a deeper truth and revelation of trust in Him…
