Connecting With God Is Simple

It should be normal to hear the voice of God. We were intentionally designed for connecting with Him. Proverbs 20:12 ESV says “The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.”

Eyes and ears are two important tools we have to communicate and connect. We have ears to hear what, someone else is sharing with us. It’s not just about hearing their words it’s about hearing their heart. We have eyes to be able to look someone in the eyes while they speak to us and understand who they are better. Matthew 6:22 NIV says “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” People who study body language will tell you that the eyes reveal a lot about someone, especially while they are talking or you’re talking to them. So the eyes are very important in communication.

In Genesis, we see God’s first interaction with man. God walked with Adam and spoke with him. Adam had a relationship with God; there was intimacy and closeness. In any kind and healthy relationship, communication is critical. God and Adam had that. God’s desire to connect with man has not changed since Genesis. God wants to talk to us not to share information, but to share hearts. Him sharing His heart with us and us with Him. That intent has not changed. It became harder for man to connect to God once Adam sinned. A wall was put between us and God.

It did not stop desire, only access. God still desires to talk to us. Even when sin was in the way, God found a way to still talk to His people. God used prophets in the Old Testament to talk to them. He gave instructions and directions through the prophetic voices. God raised them up during each part of Israel’s history, to share His heart with them. He never left them without His voice speaking to them somehow.

When Jesus came, He became the wifi signal that reconnected us to God. He busted open the doors of communication and connection between God and man again. We no longer need a prophet to be our go-between to God. Each one of us can access Him for ourselves.

Bishop Bill Hamon says, “Jesus Christ is the brightness display of God’s glory and the greatest expression of God’s person ever to occur in eternity.” Jesus is our model of God and connecting with God. Jesus restored God’s heart to our heart and our heart to God’s heart. He is the embodiment of God speaking. John 1 teaches us that Jesus is the Word. He is the Word of God made flesh.

God desires to talk and connect with you every day. Life can be busy, but it’s important to take the time to open your heart and connect to His heart. When we connect to God it meets a fundamental need inside of us. To know Him comes through connecting with Him!

The Simplicity Of The Voice Of God!

I remember being a young believer wanting to grow in my faith and desiring so much for God to speak to me. I had ideas of this epic biblical concept in mind. The rivers would part the earth would shake. I thought God only spoke through a loud audible voice an that’s all I was looking for. It’s very easy to miss something when your expectation is different than what it is.

Just like when Jesus appeared on the scene many people were looking for a king that reflected all the great attributes of a natural king. Such as great wealth, a massive army, and possibly a pet lion. However, He came demonstrating none of that, and only those who were open and discerning, know who was.

I have found God less often demonstrates and shows up in the grand theatrical event. He absolutely can, do far more than we can even imagine. However, I find more often He hides in the simple and mundane. I want to share four ways that God speaks to us that are simple and may seem mundane. We just have to learn and recognize that it’s Him.

Here are four ways that we hear God’s voice:

The first is: SIGHT

This could be seeing a vision or seeing a picture in your mind. For example, if I say purple dinosaur, you might have just pictured Barney or just a picture of a dinosaur that is purple. It’s the same concept as of you’re reading a fiction book and start to imagine all the characters and the scenery. It’s simply your mind creating a picture to visualize a concept so that you can understand it. Ever been praying for someone or something and start to image something about that person or situation? That maybe be God speaking to you. Begin to pay attention to what you’re imaging in times of prayer, worship, or reading the Bible. This can happen at any time, but it can happen more when you are intentionally engaged in a spiritual activity.

A scriptural example of seeing or sight

“Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:17 ESV

The second is: SOUND

Do you ever have a conversation in your head? You may be thinking about something going to say to someone. Or you might remember a statement your parents would say all the time, in the voice and tone that they would say it. God may speak to you internally in this way that you hear a thought or a concept inside your mind. God can also speak to audibly where you can hear it with your natural ear. Again, begin to pay attention to what you are hearing during times of worship, prayer, bible reading. It may be the Lord speaking to you.

Scriptural examples of hearing:

1 Samuel 3:10 (NKJV) 10 Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

The third way of hearing God’s voice is: SENSING

Sensing has to do with how something feels. When I say feels I’m not talking about in your emotions. It’s more like if you watch a scary movie, it feels scary, the music, the low lighting, the camera angles. This is all done on purpose to give you a certain feeling. The feeling you get from a scary movie is distinctly different than a comedy. Which is bright and more upbeat. Sensings are sometimes referred to as a gut feeling. It’s the first impression that you sense about someone or something that comes to your heart. This another way God’s voice comes to us.

Scriptural examples of sensing or feeling:

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 NKJV

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1 NKJV

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:25 NKJV

The fourth is: KNOWING

Knowing is similar to “sensing”, except knowing has a more direct certainty feeling. It’s an inner confidence and surety about something. You just know that you have to do something specific or have a certain a specific feeling about someone. It’s harder to defend a knowing and prove that is right, cause its more a strong and clear certainty you have on the inside, that you can’t shake. It’s a clear feeling about something without a direct source to prove it.

Scriptural examples of knowing:

“These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” I Corinthians 2:13 NKJV

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
John 16:13 NKJV

What Exactly Is Prophecy?

Sometimes when believers hear the word prophecy they think end times, the return of Jesus. That’s part of it, but not the full understanding of prophecy and how it should work in our lives. In this post, I’m referring to the gift of prophecy found in 1 Corinthians 14.

Prophecy is a divine revelation from the Holy Spirit that reveals the thoughts, heart, and will of God. It does not mean predicting the future though it can, but it is more about revealing God’s heart about a person or situation. The author of the prophetic word is the Holy Spirit. It is Him sharing the thoughts and intentions of God with us.

Revelations 19:10 (ESV) says “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” That means, prophecy speaks of Jesus and reveals Jesus. A prophetic word is always to point you to and connect you back to Jesus. We have received many prophetic words in our lives. Sometimes the word is just about things we were feeling and experiencing. It was God’s way of letting us know He was there and involved in the details. That brought peace and comfort to our hearts. We received the heart of God through it.

1 Corinthians 14:3 KJV shows us what the purpose of the gift of prophecy is. “But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.” Prophecy is for edification, exhortation, and comfort. Let’s define these words so we can know what to expect from the biblical New Testament gift of prophecy.

Edification– to build up, fortified like a castle with walls around it to protect from enemies, it gives you strength (Strongs concordance 3619).
It means, through the prophetic word God is going to give you strength. You will have the strength to stand against the enemy and have confidence in what God is doing in your life. The word will build you up. Which means you will have more than you had before. You’ll have more; joy, faith, courage, boldness, love, trust, etc. More of what you need.

Exhortation- a calling for, summons, hence: (a) exhortation, (b) entreaty, (c) encouragement, joy, gladness, (d) consolation, comfort. (Strongs concordance 3874). This means the word is going to move you to action. It energizes you. When I get encouragement from a friend, it motivates me. I see their belief in me. It causes me to believe in myself. The word will empower you to do what the word says. It’s letting you know God’s got your back. Go for it. Go pursue your God-given destiny.

Comfort– encouragement, consolation, exhortation. (Strongs concordance 3889). This means the word is coming into right where you are—to your pain, disappointment, rejection, sadness—bringing you peace. It’s come to cheer you up. It is pulling you out of any negative place. It’s like when you’re sick and someone brings your favorite food. It soothes your pain and comforts your soul.

Each one of the definitions of those words is all positive. God has positive things to say to you and through you. The enemy is the one that speaks negatively. God is full of love for us. God’s words comes to you like a life coach, cheering you on, encouraging you, motivating you. God’s heart is always to help us connect and draw closer to Him.

You Can Prophesy!

You can prophesy! Yes, you read that right. Hearing God is the right of every born-again believer. It’s not as scary as it may sound. You can hear God and can communicate what He reveals to you. It’s simple. We were created to hear God and to be prophetic people, even if you are not called to be a prophet. Hearing God is the foundation for a thriving relationship with Him. John 10:27 ESV “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

Sometimes we can think that hearing from God is for the spiritual elite and miss the fact that is for everyone. The pastor, the stay at home mom, the doctor, the retail clerk, the mechanic, whoever you are and whatever you do it’s for you. Hearing God should be part of our daily life. If you’re His sheep; you hear my voice. That’s how it works.

Hearing God irritates the enemy

The enemy and the flesh want to make this hard and confusing. Jesus wants to make it simple for us. It’s been the enemy’s strategy to cloud and hide the truth about a believer’s right to hear God. He is trying to create distance between God and us. The Holy Spirit is passionately coming after us, to connect us to God, and He wants to use us to connect others to God.

Sometimes we think God’s voice is this big booming voice from the sky. Like what happened when Jesus was baptized. More often in our lives, God’s voice is the still small voice in our hearts. If we’re looking for the big booming voice we might miss the still small one.

Learning to prophecy

The very first time I prophesied to someone, I didn’t even know I was doing it. I was praying for a lady, and the thought of her needing a job popped into my head.  I began to pray for a job for her, without asking or knowing if she needed a job. She began to cry. Then she told me that prayer was exactly correct she needs a job. I didn’t know anything about her, but God knew. He’s the one that put that in my mind that’s what she needed.

I had to be willing to share what I felt even if I was not sure. God desires to use you to share what he puts on your heart with those around you.

You can prophecy

1 Corinthians 14:31ESV –  For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, This verse lets us know prophesying is for all of us. That verse says all, not some, not the elite. Every believer gets to be a part of this. I encourage you, to be open to what God puts on your heart for someone else. It might be a thought, it might be a feeling or something He simply brings to your heart for them. I encourage you to share it with them, it just might be a word from the Lord to encourage and bring hope to them. I can guarantee that God has already been giving you words for people. You just have to learn to be aware that’s it’s God speaking to you and not just your thoughts.

If you want God to start using you to prophesy and share words with people to encourage them, pray this prayer.

Father, I wanted to hear your voice clearer for myself and to be used to minister to others. Lord, open up my spiritual ears, and eyes to begin to know that’s it’s you speaking and leading me to share your heart with others. In Jesus Name!

Now be open and pay attention as God begins to bring these opportunities to you. You were made for this. Go be salt and light in the earth.

Victory Is Yours, Understand Your Position

As believers, we often hear the terms, like “we have the victory”, “victory is ours”, or “shout for the victory.” These terms can excite a congregation, and people will clap or cheer because it invokes a positive emotion. Having victory is very exciting. However, we might not always think through what that fully means or what to actually do with it.

This question and understanding took me on a journey a couple of years ago, that lead to me writing a book on the subject “Break up with Defeat.” I have a new understanding about our victory, and how it can move from a concept that may excite us to a concept that may transform us, as God intended. Let’s start by defining the word victory.

The definition of victory

vic·to·ry [vik-tuh-ree, vik-tree]

noun, plural vic·to·ries.

1. a success or triumph over an enemy in battle or war.

2. an engagement ending in such triumph: American victories in the Pacific were won at great cost.

3. the ultimate and decisive superiority in any battle or contest: The new vaccine effected a victory over poliomyelitis.

4. a success or superior position achieved against any opponent, opposition, difficulty, etc.: a moral victory.

We see from the definition above that victory has to do with your position over an opponent. This lets us know that it is positional. We can’t win unless we have an opponent. Victory is our position in relation to an opponent. That position is one of success or triumph over an opponent.

Now what?

So if we as believers are victorious then there has to be an opponent that we are victorious over. Hmmm, who could that be? Yes, you guess correctly. The devil. Our position is we are triumphant over the devil.

Colossians 2:15 (NIV) – “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross”

Ephesians 2:6 – “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”

Jesus defeated the enemy and gave us a seat alongside Himself in heavenly places. He has put us in a position of victory. However, it’s our responsibility to receive it and live in it. If someone gives you a gift, it’s your responsibility to receive and accept the gift as yours. Jesus is passionate about us living lives of triumph. He died so that we could be partakers of His conquest over the enemy.

3 ways to live life victoriously

Believe that you it. If you don’t believe you have it, you will not have it. Proverbs 23:7 tells us as a man thinks in his heart so is he. Which means if he will live out and demonstrate what he believes in his heart about himself. You have to believe in your heart that God has made you victorious.

Receive it. The way you receive is to let go of the things that are not true. For example, if God says you’re free, then you must get-go of the lie that you are bound, and receive His truth of who you are, which is free.

Live victoriously.  Start to live in faith and behave like someone who is victorious. Don’t wait for something to change you become the change you’re expecting. You walking by faith in victory is partnering with what God has already said about who you are.

The result

When we live life victoriously we are reflecting God. We are showing God’s ability in our lives to bring forth victory. Our victory speaks of His goodness in our lives. It’s not just about us having victory and being wonderful people. It’s about the character and nature of God shining in us and through us. Our victory is His victory on display in our lives.

How to Grow in the Prophetic

Like any skill, spiritual or natural, to grow in it you must practice developing it. Michael Jordan did not become one of the best basketball players overnight. Not like I did. Just kidding! He learned and developed his skills over time. You start with where you are. Sometimes we might be in a rush to get to an end result and miss the process of learning. It is though the learning that we grow and are transformed. Growing in the prophetic is not different. One of the biggest hindrances to growing in the prophetic is to try to advance too quickly. You may be expecting yourself to receive words of knowledge, hear names and know exactly what they ate for dinner two years ago. The goal is not to try to operate like your favorite prophetic minister. You are unique. God made you special. Your personal relationship with Him is special. The goal it to be the prophetic believer that God has called you to be.

The Ways God Speaks

First, find out how you hear from God. Pay attention to how God speaks to you uniquely. The Lord speaks to His people through many different ways. Does the Lord speak to you through visions or pictures? This is when you see images in your mind’s eye. Do you get a feeling or knowing in your spirit? This is when you feel something very strongly internally, often out of nowhere. Do you hear a still small voice or an audible voice? This is when you actually hear something.   Do you get a flash of thoughts or ideas? This is God bringing things to your attention.

I can promise you that God has already spoken to you. God can speak to us any way He desires, but there is usually one primary way that He speaks to us for our own unique relationship with God. People who primarily see visions and pictures, that is usually the way God speaks to them the most. Others get a sensing in their spirit. That is how they mainly hear and receive from the Lord. It’s just a matter of recognizing and knowing that it was God and having an understanding of how you personally hear God.

Do This Exercise

Here is an exercise you can do. Ask the Lord three times a day to speak to you. Do this in the morning, do it around lunch time and do it right before bed. Once you do this, close your eyes and wait and see what comes to you. The first thing that comes to your mind is God. The second thing is most likely spiritual opposition arguing you out of what God just spoke to you. Pay attention during that waiting time and see how you are receiving from God. You will learn how to recognize the most frequent way that God is speaking to you. Once you get more comfortable with this you can increase to more than three times a day.

Get Training in the Prophetic Through GOD TV e-Courses!

This will help you discipline yourself to listen to God. The more you are seeking to hear God the more He will speak to you. It’s like the famous movie line “If you build it they will come.” If you listen constantly He will speak! Bishop Bill Hamon says God is more eager to talk to us than we are willing to listen. God wants to speak to you and through you.

Here is a point of wisdom that must be said. Make sure what you are hearing and sensing is in submission to the Word of God. If it contradicts the Bible in any way, it is not God. It is critically important to make sure what you are hearing is in submission to the Word. It is the standard by which we make sure we are hearing from God. God never contradicts Himself.

When you start hearing God speak to you, test it. If it is God it will prove itself. Don’t be afraid to step out on what you heard and test it out and see if it is God. Doing this will help grow your confidence that you are hearing from God. If you tested it and you missed it. No big deal. God is more proud of you for being willing to step out and try than to sit back and do nothing. This is how you learn and grow. Mistakes are not the enemy, but not trying and being stuck in fear of making a mistake is. This is a faith walk with the Lord, nothing is certain. I have been prophetically ministering for over 12 years now. I still have to believe and trust that God is speaking to me. My confidence is built because I have done this for so long, but it is still all by faith. We step out by faith and trust God.

Are You In A Season Of Transition, Uprooting, and Replanting?

I feel that this is a season of transition, uprooting, and replanting. For each of us personally, this looks different. Let the Lord reveal and lead you in what He is transitioning, uprooting, and replanting in your life.

For some, it is literal, a physical transition; moving locations, changing jobs, getting married, having a baby, or some other life-changing event. I sense for those where your transition is literal; God is giving you the grace to move into the new with fresh hope and joy that will heal and separate you from the past seasons of discouragement and hopelessness. These transitions mark the leaving the old season and moving you into the future that God has for you.

For others, this transition is a mindset change. God is uprooting doubt-filled thoughts, thoughts of limitation, habits, negative relationships, wrong beliefs, and replanting you into new structures designed for you to grow, mature, and become fruitful.

This process might seem scary because you are leaving what you have grown comfortable with and used to, but the transition is for your best in God. 2019 is a year of shifts and change as God moves to uproot and replant us in the best environment and situations for us to develop into who is calling us to be in this next season.

After the transition and the uprooting, there is replanting. The replanting is putting you in the best soil for your growth and producing fruit. This replanting is not just a physical change or a mental change, but it is also an attitude change. God wants to develop inside of us a spiritual maturity. This attitude change is to step into a place of taking responsibility, for what God has called you to do. It’s becoming a mature son or daughter of God. Let God replant you in the place where you can produce good fruit for him.

How to avoid being strange in the prophetic

Some people get afraid when you start talking about hearing from God. If you have been around church culture for any length of time, you know at least one person that acts or does something strange and says God told them to do it. We all shake our heads and say we want no part of that. Some people and churches have closed their hearts and doors to the prophetic because of this. God may or may not have told them to do what they did.

Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 31 – 32  to understand this. “For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”

The scripture says the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. That just means that we are responsible for administrating what the Holy Spirit speaks to us. We must fulfil or deliver the prophetic word in a way that does not confuse but brings the peace of God. If there is confusion, then we are the ones that caused it, not God.

It’s up to us how we deliver the prophetic

Let me give you an example. What if you are at a restaurant and God speaks to you and says buy the lunch of the people on the table next to you. You could jump up and run over to that table and say, “I was sitting there praying and worshipping and ascending to the third Heaven, and the Spirit of the Lord just spoke to me and told me to buy your lunch. I want to obey God, so, I will now buy everyone’s meal at this table to let you know that God loves you and you need to surrender to Jesus today.” That table might be grateful you bought them their lunch and possibly freaked out at that same time.

Or you can get the waiter’s attention quietly and say here is my credit card I would like to pay the bill for the next table. You may never even have to tell the table that you purchased their meal or that God told you to do that. If you feel led to speak to the other table, you can calmly walk over to them and say, “Hi, I’m John. I felt led to purchase your lunch.” They may be very grateful, and then you could strike up a conversation with them, that is more natural. That conversation might even lead them to the Lord if they are not saved. However, this way many have proven to be more efficient and not seem weird or cause confusion.

The word from God was to buy their lunch. However, it is up to us how to act on that word. We can do it in a way that brings peace and the best impact. We are responsible for how we manage the word, and we can make it weird, or we can make it easy for people to receive.

It is up to us, how we respond to a word that we receive from God. We can make it easy for people to be open to it or we can be strange and want to have no part of it. We are called to be ambassadors of God. Whatever He speaks to you represent Him well.

Stretch Out. 5 Ways You Can Reach Further This Year

Stretch Out

The enemy has been circling in and trying to cause us to shrink back and narrow our territory and impact. Isaiah 54:2 is a key verse in 2018 as God breaks through the boundaries in our lives:

“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.” 

It’s a season to stretch our faith out for more. Expand our tent pegs beyond our limitations. We must not settle but push forward for the greater. God is calling us to grow. It’s time to enlarge our territory and sphere of influence.

Reach farther than where you have reached before. Grab your tent peg and rip it out of the ground of comfort. Plant it in the place that seems impossible. Put your tent peg in a spot that makes you uncomfortable and uncertain. God will meet you in the area of uncertainty in this season. Go for the big. Reach beyond your comfort zone.

Canon Andrew White, The Vicar of Baghdad, was given this advice: “Don’t take care, take risk.” God is calling us not to take care, but take a risk. We all are comfortable to operate at a certain level. It’s usually at a place that doesn’t require us to take a risk. God wants us to take a risk in 2018.

If you have desired to start a business, create a ministry, or run for political office, this is your time to leap. The thing that God has put in your heart, go after it. It’s not coming to you. It’s your time to press and reach for it.

Appointed time for Breakthrough
In Luke 8:40-56 we see the story of the woman with the issue of blood.

In verse 42 we see that Jairus’ daughter was 12 years old and in verse 43 we see that this woman had her issue for 12 years. The moment that this lady’s problem started, God had her solution in mind. The thing that would position her for breakthrough and a miracle was born.  She had to wait until her appointed time to reach out to Jesus and to receive her breakthrough and miracle. It was her faith that she had to stretch out to receive it.

God has a breakthrough this year for you that He has pre-ordained. In this season God is waiting for you to step out and experience what He was set up for this moment in your life. God has called us to partner and work with Him, not just for Him. He wants to share His power with us in a greater way, but we have to meet Him in faith.

5 Areas to Stretch Out in 2018

1 Reach out in Surrender
This is a time to give up more of ourselves to receive more of Him.
God is multiplying our surrender.  To the degree we reach, He is reaching back with double. Give him what He is asking for and He will give you what you are asking twice as much.

2 Reach out for the Presence
We have been conditioned for the presence of God at a certain level. God wants to take us deeper into His presence and cause us to experience Him.  God is expanding the capacity to experience Him. Don’t look back to the glory days, look ahead and reach for the glory that is coming.

3 Reach out in the Word
God wants to bring forth fresh insight and revelation as you read His Word. God is releasing new life to your as you read the scriptures this year.

4 Reach out in New Opportunities
God is bringing new opportunities to your reach. Stretch out and grab them when they come by.  New jobs, new business ideas, new levels of promotion.

5 Reach out in Faith
God is growing your faith this year.  Dormant faith will not grow, but active faith will grow leaps and bounds.

The greater reaching you do in this season, the greater level of reward you will receive.  There is an invitation to step into the unknown. Run to the risk God is drawing you to, it will produce miracles for you.

God Has Burning Bushes Set Up In Your Life! Are You Seeing Them? Are You Listening?

God is Trying to Speak a Particular Message to You

Are you really listening?

At times I have had a conversation with my wife where she says “What do you think about that?” Then I hesitate for a moment and realize I have no idea what the last thing she said was. I sometimes smile and nod, hoping that will do. Then she says “You don’t know what I just said, do you?” I’m like nope, not at all. Then I realize I was on my phone or thinking about something else. She was communicating. And maybe I thought I was listening at first. I just was not listening intently. I am the one that missed the communication. She did her part.

That can happen between God and us sometimes. He may be speaking, but we are not listening with intention and can miss what He is saying to us. God’s heart is always to communicate to us. God loves us and loves to talk to us. We are on a journey with God. He is leading us day by day.

We can sometimes be oblivious to the fact that God is speaking to us. We can get so busy with life, task, family, work or projects and miss what God is trying to communicate. To receive what God is speaking to us, all we’ve got to do is pay attention.

Are there burning bushes in your life?

God speaking to us can be like Moses and the burning bush. The bush was on fire, but Moses had to turn and see to receive the message. Moses stopped what he was doing to go figure out why the bush was on fire. The bush was burning whether or not Moses paid attention to it. God put the bush in his path, but he had to chose to pay attention to it. God has burning bushes to place in your life too.

God may be speaking a particular message to you, but you have to turn aside to now go and receive it. Pay attention to the burning bushes in your life. What things are showing up as you go about your day, that stand out to you?

Nothing happens by chance…

Have you read a scripture and then a friend has a conversation with you that is similar in nature to the scripture you just read? Or did you hear a sermon, then see a post on social media with a similar message? Or did you get on the GOD TV blog and see a post about just what you have been praying about?

This is God speaking to you through many different ways. He is getting your attention, like burning bushes. If you’re not getting it one way, He will come to you another, and another, and another. He can be very persistent. God can speak to you through the Bible, friends, social media, sermons, movies, songs, dreams, a prophetic word, art, a book and many other ways. He can speak to you through a donkey if He wants. God has multiple levels of communicating to you. He loves you and loves to talk to you.

Remember…

Pay attention to the messages that keep popping up to you in your daily life. That may be something God is speaking to you. Once you realize He is speaking, you’ll be able to listen more closely. It then becomes easier to hear Him. Once you have seen the message, ask the Lord exactly what He wants to communicate to you. God is faithful. He will answer you.
