Patricia King Shares about Orphan Mentality

Patricia King talked about having an orphan mentality on the Equipping the Saints show with Pastor Ché Ahn. She started by explaining that a person’s primary relationship in life is with the Father. “We see that right in Genesis chapter one. So we see a loving father creating uh male and female after His own image and likeness and loving on them and being with them,” she elaborated. All throughout the bible, God is represented as a Father. In fact, Jesus came to reconcile us to the Father.

Moreover, she also discussed the symptoms of an orphan heart. “When you’re an orphan or living according to that mentality, you’re going to have maybe competition, insecurity, jealousy. Even poverty is a symptom of that,” she shared.
An orphan doesn’t have the security of knowing that they are loved.

In the Christian walk, this mentality is evident when people strive to live for God and it is connected to a person knowing their worth and value. Without parental love, a person with an orphan mentality grows up insecure and lacking confidence.

How to Overcome Orphan Mentality

Psalms 27 says, “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” There may be a parental deficit in someones life, but God’s love is there to fill the emptiness in their hearts. “I believe our healing is going to begin with God himself. It’s been restored to God himself,” she said.

People must believe that God unconditionally loves them. “He’s not this big cruel judge in heaven trying to smash us down or, you know, trying to shame us or lay guilt on us. That’s not His nature. His nature is to love us and to delight in us,” she explained.

She also encouraged people to seek the Father. “We can start a revival of sonship, of daughtership, just by coming to know the Father’s heart,” she added.

A Christian woman was inspired to build a school for homeless kids after she volunteered at Union Rescue Mission.

Volunteering at Union Rescue Mission

Hattie Mitchell, founder of Crete Academy, shares with Joy Ahn Ngu, the co-host of Equipping the Saints show, the story behind the school she established for homeless kids. When she was around 5 years old, Hattie already felt a sense of compassion and empathy for the homeless. That feeling grew when she experienced an unforgettable moment while volunteering at Union Rescue Mission. She visited the heart of Skid Row in Los Angeles and was shocked by what she saw.

“There were tents and boxes, and it looked like a third world country, yeah, here in L.A,” she recalled. When she finished volunteering, she walked outside the mission and saw a baby girl on the ground who was about six months old, crawling around her mother. And that moment left a significant impact on her life.

“I remember thinking, you know this little girl has a dream. She has a purpose. She has gifts. And the chances of those things ever coming to fruition because of her circumstances are slim to none,” she shared. Hattie believed that the changing factor in that little girl’s life was education. Since that day, she dedicated her life to education and helping homeless kids.

School for the Homeless Kids

Hattie went through extensive education and schooling in order to build the Crete Academy. According to her, the word “Crete” means “to create” in the Greek language. “The belief is that if you can take hold of the resources and education that we provide, you can create your own future despite your circumstances,” she explained. The Crete Academy’s mission is to serve the kids who are homeless. However, they are also considered as a public charter school, so they also serve anyone who comes to their doors.

Hattie believes that helping the homeless kids through education is what God has called her to do. “I wake up in the morning. It’s like this is my God-given destiny, so, therefore, it’s blessed,”” she said.

The founder of In Touch Ministries, Dr. Charles Stanley, shares 6 biblical principles that Christian can apply to overcome temptation.

Temptation of Jesus

Dr. Charles cited important lessons that people can learn in the temptation of Jesus. “The best place to go that I know to find out how to deal with temptation is with the One who conquered it every single time, and that’s Jesus,” he said. The following are the ways in which people could fight temptation:

1. Respond to the truth with the word of God.

He encouraged the people to go to the Father and learn from the word of God. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” The promise of God will remind a person to hold on and keep the faith.

2. Find verses to use as a shield against temptation.

Dr. Charles highlighted that there are verses in the bible that people can use as a defense against temptation. “Now, I may say, ‘Well, I have a defense.’ Well, that defense has parts to it. And that’s verse after verse… in the word of God that makes me realize I don’t have to yield,” he shared. Moreover, he also noted that a person should choose verses that apply to them. For instance, if they have anger issues, they need to look at the word of God and study the part of the scripture that talks about it.

3. Do not argue with the devil.

“Jesus didn’t get in any arguments with the devil. If you do that, you’ll gonna lose every time,” he shared. What the person can do is ask God about the defense that he can use in fighting temptation. Jesus didn’t misuse His power to satisfy His hunger. He also added that people need to build a foundation of strong truth.

4. Be ready for Satan to attack again.

Satan attacked Jesus more than once. Dr. Charles reminded the congregation that Satan will possibly attack again just like what He did to Jesus, as stated in Matthew 4:6, “And said to Him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning you’; and ‘On their hands, they will bear you up so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” In this passage, Satan quoted the scripture, but Jesus also used the word of God to attack him.

5. Look for the trap behind the temptation.

“Anything Satan tempts you with, it may look real profitable… if you first look, but if you will get under and look again, you will find it as a trap… it will ultimately destroy you,” Dr. Charles shared. This world is full of lies. That’s why people need to seek the truth. The prominent pastor gently reminded the people that they will reap what they sow. It is a scientific and spiritual principle.

6. Build the word of God into your Lifestyle.

The purpose behind this principle is to form a barrier before attacks come. The Word of God is a vital key to thriving. “If you will build the truth of God into your life, you will build a barrier… you will have a defense against the devil,” he mentioned.

Furthermore, he also added that it’s the spirit of God that responds to the temptation and obeys the Lord. Jesus victoriously dealt with temptation, and that’s also the hope that He would like to offer to His people.

Peter Althouse, a Professor at Southeastern University, shared interesting observations that Christians practice when it comes to inner healing.

Interesting Healing Practice

In 2013, Professor Peter conducted research about the Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville. In his study, he discussed 4 different kinds of healing: physical healing, inner healing, spiritual healing, and deliverance. Among these, he highlighted some interesting observations about inner healing.

He defined inner healing or emotional healing as a therapeutic and spiritual form of healing in which a person needs to deal with an emotional or psychological trauma to move forward.

One of those practices he mentioned is prayer. “Basically, they have someone stand in for your father and mother and pray a blessing over you because all of us have kind of issues with our parents,” he said. He noticed that this practice of inner healing seemed to be a more powerful form of healing than all the others.

Additionally, many people are not healed physically because they have emotional baggage that they have to deal with.

Inner Healing

Professor Peter also highlighted that one of the reasons that people may have physical issues is because they have anger or resentment that’s been buried. “What emotional healing purports to do is to kind of go in and uncover that kind of anger or issues,” he shared.

Additionally, he shared a part of inner healing that helps heal memories. According to his interviews, people go back to a very traumatic experience and invite Jesus into those painful moments. “I remember one woman who I interviewed, talked about, you know…’I realized that Jesus was there all the time. That you know, when I cried out to Him, He was there,’” he highlighted.

Part of the process of healing is going back to where the negative emotions start to take form and release it so that other forms of healing can happen.

Indeed, inner healing is very beneficial in our journey to health and wholeness.

Greg Catalano, a businessman, testified about how the Holy Spirit moved in his workplace. One Friday afternoon, Greg was getting ready to close and leave the office when a man walked in and was looking for a job. He sat down and talked about what he did for a living. While listening to the man, the Holy Spirit began to flow through Greg. “I started speaking into his life and just telling him things of what. Never met the guy before. And just started to speak to him about what God wanted for his life,” he shared.

Suddenly, the guy jumped out of the chair and left his office. He thought he offended the man because he said personal things that only God would know. Then, Monday morning came, and Greg realized what the Holy Spirit had done.

Divine Appointment

God had led him to a divine appointment. The man came back to Greg’s office and began to weep. “He says you have no idea what’s been happening in my life. He says my business has fallen apart. My partner robbed everything from me, and He said I did a terrible thing,” Greg recalled. The broken man put a hit out to have his partner killed, and after he heard the word that Greg shared, he was immediately convicted to cancel it.

“God intervened in the workplace at that moment on a Friday afternoon, going home from work, and changed that man’s life forever,” he testified. Greg stayed connected to the man, and they even did business together.

Becky Murray testified about the powerful miracle that her dying husband received from God.

Dying Husband

Becky Murray, the founder and CEO of One by One, shared a powerful testimony that reminds people about God’s protection and miracle healing. In September 2014, she and her husband, Matthew, went on a mission trip to Kenya. A few days after they returned home to America, Becky’s husband became ill. “At first, it just looked like a cough or the flu of some sort. And so, we didn’t think much of it, but as time started passing by, it began becoming increasingly worse,” she recalled. On the 2nd day of October 2014, she took Matthew to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with malaria.

“I was thankful. I was breathing a sigh of relief that this is just malaria… and so I remember saying somehow, ‘Oh you’ll be fine a couple of days on IV, anti-malarial medications and you’ll be good to go,'” she said. But sadly, Becky’s assumption was exactly the opposite. Two days after she dropped her husband in the hospital, his life was hanging in the balance. The doctors informed her that 50% of Matthew’s blood was filled with the malaria parasite.

“She [the doctor] began to tell me how they suspected Matt had maybe two, maybe three hours left to live,” Becky shared. At that moment, she felt that every dream and promise was shattered on the ground. She was so devastated not until God performed a miracle.

Miracle Healing

After the painful news that Becky received from the doctor, she tried to compose herself. She posted the news on social media and asked people to pray for her husband. Then, she put down her phone and walked out of her room. Suddenly, a nurse walked up to her with a huge smile.

The nurses had already taken another set of labs on her husband. The results showed that the malaria level had dropped from 50% to 10%. “I remember knowing in that moment that God had done a phenomenal and powerful miracle…In that moment when medicine failed, God came through in the most remarkable of ways,” Becky testified.

Moreover, a nurse in the ICU who witnessed the miracle and decided to give her life to Jesus. “She’d [the nurse] seen firsthand medicine didn’t do this. God did this, and so she gave her heart to Christ,” she said.

Indeed, God’s grace and power is always unfailing.

Ford Taylor Received Unconditional Love

The founder of FSH Consulting Transformational Leadership, Ford Taylor, shared his testimony on GOD TV’s GOD at Work program. He was part of a large company in America, and he fell into pride. That’s when he committed a moral failure against his wife. When God brought him back, he confessed his mistakes and thought his wife would leave him. When he asked for forgiveness, his wife chose to share the unconditional love of Jesus.

“She looked me square in the eye. And she said, ‘Why would I leave you. I love you more than anything on this earth. I forgive you. We’ll get through this,'” he said. After hearing those powerful words, Ford experienced the unconditional love and forgiveness of Jesus.

His wife encouraged him to step away from corporate America and help others. That pushed him to create practical biblical tools for training people.

Serving God In The Business World

He realized that the Bible is full of wisdom that can help the business world. “So, I started reading God’s word through a different lens and realizing that I hadn’t been all that smart. All those years that I had been applying kingdom principles and didn’t even realize it,” he shared. He felt God called him to go out and teach others how to make their Christian walk at work practical and implementable.

Moreover, Rich Marshall, the host of God at Work, added that reading the bible through “marketplace eyes” will lead business owners to discover useful principles related to their field. “Almost everybody in the Bible who led a great move of God was not a priest or a pastor but was a business leader,” he remarked. Rich cited biblical characters such as Joseph, Nehemiah, Stephen, and more.

Indeed, God’s unconditional love is at work, not just in church but also in the business world.

Satish, one of the partners of GOD TV in India, and his wife shared their testimony of God’s healing and salvation. Ten years ago, Satish was assigned to Jabalpur in North India. His wife at that time was suffering from an illness. They tried everything help her heal. “We were living miserable lives… looking for the solution, but we just didn’t have any peace,” he recalled. They were struggling not until Satish heard about the Bible.

“I asked my colleague, who is also a Christian, to lend me his Bible. I just started reading it… It actually gripped me so much. I found it really interesting,” he said. From then on, he can’t stop thinking about God’s words. He realized he was doing the wrong things and that there were ways to correct them.

He was scanning the television channels and discovered GOD TV. “It was the first time I was watching it, and I realized that they were actually talking about this book I was reading the Bible,” he shared. Through the programs he watched, he learned about prayer, worship, and miracle healing. That’s when He decided to give his heart to Jesus.

While Satish was enjoying his walk with Jesus, his wife noticed his new behavior and habits. Slowly, his wife started joining in. “I can say that both my wife and I, we were both saved in our living room by watching only one channel, by watching GOD TV,” he said. They started to read and discuss the Bible together. And for the first time, their married life was thriving.

Additionally, Satish noticed that his wife’s sickness was fading away after about four months. “Her illness was completely healed … we saw that Jesus heals,” he testified.

Pastor Andrew Wommack shared 4 things people do that decreases God’s influence in their lives.

Pastor Andrew revealed the 4 things listed in Romans 1:21 that will help people discover the ways that lead them far from God. The passage says, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” The following are the 4 important factors that are mentioned in the verse:

1. Magnifying Things Other Than God

He reminded viewers to magnify what God has done in their lives. “If you looked at things in the proper way, did you know that you’ve got nothing to be complaining about? You’ve got to magnify those things,” he shared. On the other hand, Satan will tempt God’s people to look at the tiny things as giants. That’s why it’s important to focus on the great future that Jesus prepared. The suffering of this world is nothing compared to the glory that God will reveal to His people.

2. Being Ungrateful To God

This second point connected to the first. According to Pastor Andrew, you cannot be truly thankful without glorifying God. He also mentioned Psalms 69:30, I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This verse reminds people that thanksgiving is one of the ways to magnify God.

3. Putting A Higher Value On Other Things

“If satan can get you to where you are, not magnifying God and putting worth and value on the things of God. Then what will happen is you will automatically value this. You’re going to put value on something,” he shared.

If we place value on everything, nothing ends up having value. He gave a practical example of listening to the news. We can’t believe every word we hear. “Things have different values, and the sad fact is we are valuing things today that I don’t believe God values at all,” he added.

4. Being Forgetful Of God’s Faithfulness

Pastor Andrew encouraged the viewers to remember God’s goodness. In fact, he regularly purposes to recall the miracles that God has done in his life. “Memory is a powerful force. It’s either a powerful force for evil or a powerful, powerful force for good. Just depends on how you process it. And memory is involved in thanksgiving,” he said.

In conclusion, it’s important to magnify God through thanksgiving, value Him above all things, and remember his faithfulness. That’s when His influence becomes more evident in our lives.

A muslim man who grew up in Egypt met Jesus and has started a ministry for persecuted Christians and non-believers who needed help.

The founder of One Free World International, Rev. Majed El Shafie, shares his story of redemption on GOD TV Together daily show. He shared that the majority of his family worked in the legal field. That’s why he went to law school to follow in his family’s footsteps. While studying in Alexandria, he witnessed the persecution that Christians experienced. “You do not persecute somebody unless you are scared from the truth that they carry,” he said.

He watched the church be attacked every Christmas and Easter, and as a young Muslim man, he wondered why there was persecution. He visited a Christian friend, Tamar, and asked why Christians are being persecuted worldwide. That’s when his friend handed him a book that would change his life forever.

“This book was not only about laws and regulation. It was also about love and, forgiveness, and sacrifice. We call it the Holy Bible,” he recalled. When he first opened God’s Word, he read a story in John 8 about a woman who committed adultery. He noticed how Jesus accepted and forgave the woman, and it deeply impacted him. It was the first time that he encountered Jesus.

Fighting For The Persecuted Christians

Since then, Rev. Majed has dedicated his life to follow Jesus. With his bold faith in Jesus, he created an underground ministry in Egypt and started to write a book about the difference between Islam and Christianity. Because of that, He was arrested and experienced persecution. His sufferings caused his heart to burn for other Christians who were also persecuted. That’s why he created the One Free World International Ministry.

“I’m one of the people that dream one day to wake up and see there is no need to my ministry anymore,” he shared. There is one persecuted Christian every three minutes worldwide. Their ministry was created to help not just Christians but also non-believers in difficult situations. “The love of Christ is not only for the people that follow Him. It’s for the whole world,” he said.
