Brian Welch, from the metal band, Korn, speaks about his image at the premiere of the new faith-based film, Run The Race.
He is the co-founder of the band Korn, which started to become famous in 1993. He came to know the Lord in 2005 where he was saved at a church in Bakersfield and was baptized in the Jordan River following his conversion.
Brian left the band for a long period of time after getting saved in order to get clean and focus on raising his daughter. He later returned to the band in 2012 to be the lead guitarist.
Although Brian he became a part of the Kingdom of God, he did not feel the need to change his appearance; his dreads, tattoos, etc., and he tells why in an interview on the red carpet of Run The Race.
God cleans us on the inside
The new faith-based film, Run The Race was released this past February the 22nd where the stars of the movie and many other Hollywood infuencers gathered. Brian made his appearance as a friend to the stars and the producer of the film.
“Suits are awesome. I’m not getting down [on that] but I want to be me now. Jesus always led me and said, ‘You be yourself’ and you don’t have to change into anything except how He leads me to change, not how man does.”
We are all created with dynamic appearances, mindsets, preferences, expressions, etc. and God does not need the outside to change in order for the inside to.
“We just got to step back out of the religious things and just think about who Jesus hung out with — the fisherman, the prostitute, all kinds of people and I fit right in that little group. That is who He goes after and saves. He loves everybody. We’re a story, but the thing is, He cleans us on the inside.”
There is freedom in Christ. This freedom does not call every person to have the same career, appearance, characteristics, etc.
Be free to follow Jesus in the way that HE is leading you, not the expectations of the world.
