Most women, if not all, fantasize about their wedding day. It is one of the most awaited events in a person’s life, and also one of the most emotional moments for parents. Entrusting a child to someone they chose to be with pretty much clenches a parent’s heart, on many levels.
Andrea celebrated her wedding without her father. Her dad suffered from pancreatic cancer, and months before her wedding, Andrea’s dad died.

One of the most memorable days of Andrea’s life was also one of the toughest. It was sad to see that one of the most important person in Andrea’s life was absent from her big day. Regardless of the situation, her brother Nick, planned something for Andrea to somehow ease the pain of their father’s absence.
“We’re missing someone pretty important this evening, that would obviously be here for the dance with his little girl.” Nick said. “I decided to do something special for Andrea. Not only for Andrea but for dad, knowing that dad would be you know, be elated to be here with us today.”
It was hard for Andrea’s brother to finish the introduction because he was trying so hard to contain the tears.
Nick recorded himself singing “Butterfly Kisses”, and he had altered some of its lyrics to perfectly fit the situation. Some of the lyrics state:
“She’ll change her name today.
She’ll make a promise,
And I’ll give her away.
Standing in the bride room
Just staring at her,
She asked me what I’m thinking,
And I said “I’m sure dad would feel like he’s losing his little girl.”
It is evident that Andrea is surprised by her brother’s gesture.
When her grandpa started dancing with her, the sobs she tried to conceal flowed freely. After her grandpa’s turn, her other brother, Luke – also teary-eyed – followed. Then Nick danced with Andrea as well, and her last dance was with her new father-in-law, Scott.
There was not a dry eye in the house after the song ended. No matter who comes and stays in your life, be grateful for the people who made up for those who could no longer be there.
