To have faith, one must have trust. The trust can be within yourself or in a relationship. Here is an example of trust built on faith in yourself: Has anyone ever told you to have confidence in your abilities? When you do so, do you find yourself overcoming a challenge, completing an assignment, or completing a work project? Have you ever played sports and been cheered on by your teammates? They are cheering you with the hope that you will make that winning point while the clock is about to hit the buzzer. While your heart is beating and your body is aching from all the physical activity, you muster enough faith in yourself that you execute the winning goal with such precision you come to believe it was destined. Years later, you are still flabbergasted while you relive this experience in your mind, and when telling this story.
Despite the anxiety and fear, you were able to channel these emotions into determination. Trust built on faith is a central factor. Faith = Trust = Confidence. This is the same faith we need to muster when it comes to God.
Built On Faith: Crossroads
We must believe that God assists us during the dark times in our lives. He lights the path when we find ourselves lost, and when we are clouded with emotions. There are times He shows us signs and tries to lead us, yet we are paralyzed by complacency, fear, anger, resentment, and doubt. If you can find faith in your abilities, in your skill-sets, in your friendships, how can you not find hope in the Divine Architect? His intelligent design is what has carried you this far. If we find ourselves contemplating and indecisive then we must pray for discernment and read scripture for revelations. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105) God will reveal the way that He has chosen for you during your endeavor.
The Trust Factor
God’s powers are unlimited. Have faith in His plan and see how all unfolds before you while granting you victory. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5) Imagine being in a relationship with a partner that lacks trust. How long do you honestly think it will last? No one can tell you how to manage your relationship. However, a relationship or partnership without confidence lacks substance. Thus, the probability of longevity and sincerity is minimal. This becomes a relationship with no substance, nor is it rewarding. A relationship with no trust is as worthless as cubic zirconia in a pawn shop. How can you truly foster a personal and intimate relationship with God if your faith is questionable?
This, after all, is the goal and desire of every Christian, to have that communion and bond with God. Can you honestly proclaim the gospel and not believe in the promise of God if you do not trust in Him without reservation? You would be lying not just to the world, more important to yourself and our heavenly Father. We are only as powerful as our faith and prayers. Once you lose your trust in the Lord, you become powerless over your life. “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
Built On Faith: He is the Path
Let us look at the Israelites during the Exodus, traveling towards a land of the unknown. Despite their fear and hidden bearings, they had complete faith in God. He provided them with a pillar of light that directed them out of Egypt, throughout the wilderness toward the Promised Land. “And the LORD went before them in a pillar of cloud to guide their way by day, and in a pillar of fire to give them light at night, so that they could travel by day or night.” (Exodus 13:21)
Trust that He will direct you out of the dry seasons of your life and into His promise, even when you can’t see where you’re heading. Faith is the key!
