What challenged the church pastors during the pandemic?
In an episode of The Cry with host Betty King, Rev. Surekha Hulugalle and his wife pastor Chrishani of Foursquare Church UK share the struggles that churches and pastors faced when the Coronavirus broke out. When the pandemic started, many churches had no idea what to do next.
It was something new to most pastors and they didn’t have an idea how to lead people during these trying times. It was truly a time of awakening and shaking for most Christians. This time revealed the real reason why we do church. Is it just to perform or is it to obey what Jesus said.

“The real practical shift has been towards discipleship,” Surekha said. “Everything that we do, stems out of the heart of discipleship. And not just doing church, or not just performing church but really going back to the heart of what Jesus has said.”
The challenge that many pastors have faced was trying to be someone they are not just to fulfill the needs of their congregation during these times.
“All pastors, they have pure hearts, they want to the best. But I think the pressure of trying to be someone that they are not, started to challenge them,” he added. “They you’re getting into these routines, getting to this mundane routine and then it tires you out… everything becomes a task.”
However, during this time, the Lord also brought many of us back to our secret place with Him.
“One of the things that happened through COVID is the Lord bringing us back into the secret place. In that secret place is where He will whisper and He will speak,” Chrishani said.
It is in His presence that revival starts. If you want to see revival break out, you first have to experience it in your heart. The Lord is bringing revival to everyone right now, just receive it and let it flow to everyone around you.
“Your secret place is where revival needs to start. You can have the church building, you can have all that, but at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to revival starts in your heart. Revival has to change you first.”
