Children are a Gift
Psalm 127: 3 to 5 – “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.”
Through the generations, it has been a way of life that we try to bring up our children in the way we were brought up. Our parents compared our generation to theirs and now we compare our generation to our children’s, always uplifting and praising one’s own upbringing than the next. In this pursuit we forget who our children are. We ignore their worth, we fail to recognise their purpose in this generation, and as a matter of fact, we fail to recognise what we actually possess.
Children are a heritage from the Lord
Heritage is something that you do not earn but it is given to you as a reward. A reward brings pride to the family, joy to the family and with it comes blessings. Our children are a gift from God. Children cannot be a source of sorrow, shame, and poverty. They are a gift from God the Father, a priceless gift that brings joy, pride and prosperity that we have to enjoy our life with. Claim your gift today and enjoy every moment of your life with God’s precious gift. Remember, your gift is unique and nobody on this planet earth has an identical gift as yours.

Children are like arrows in the hands of the warrior
… blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them… Does this mean that we are to use our children as a weapon? NO! Let’s look at this verse like this – as parents we are the bow and our children are arrows in God’s hands. The heart of Father God is to use us, parents, to release our children into the world so that they can be individuals that He has designed them to be. Therefore we as parents have to keep the arrow heads sharp with the Word of God so that in due time they will be released to destroy the powers of darkness. If we have this perspective wouldn’t we want our quiver to be full? Our children are powerful weapons in God’s hand. Your children are a matter of pride and not shame.
