Chris Pratt Opens Up On How He Survives The “Lion’s Den” of The Spotlight

Live on Steven Colbert, Chris Pratt get's real on the power of the light within

(Jump to 3:33 for the segment on Chris’ Daniel Fast)

He does it again –

Chris Pratt is talking about his faith openly and for the world to see.

Known for his hilarious role as Andy Dwyer on the hit TV show, Parks and Recreation. He has also starred in some major movies in the past few years including Guardian’s of the Galaxy, Jurrasic World and most recent, The Lego Movie.

Chris shared on February 8th, on the Steven Colbert Show, about his recent Daniel Fast and presents a powerful quote from the author, speaker, and activist, Christine Cain, about the light within.

In the interview, Steven Colbert asks Chris about his recent Daniel Fast and in the midst of conversation, Steven tells Chris that the main thing that he knows about Daniel in the Bible is about Daniel in the lion’s den. Steven goes on to ask Chris do you ever feel like you’re in the lion’s den by being a celebrity in the public eye with people always trying to figure out what’s going on with Chris Pratt with all the cameras pointing at you? Do you ever feel like you’re in the lion’s den, Chris Pratt?”

To this, Chris responds, “Yes. Yah I suppose I do… but there’s this great quote that I actually heard in church that felt really appropriate, which was ‘if the spotlight that’s shining on you is brighter than the light that is coming from within you, it’ll kill you’, and you see it all the time.”

“If the light that is on you is brighter than the light that is in you, the light that is on you will destroy you.”

-Christine Cain

Chris goes on to clarify, “You have to have a light to share. You have to have a light that’s just as bright as any of these lights” motioning to the lights on him in the Colbert studio, “then you can survive. Then you can save yourself and not give it all away.”

Colbert responds with a thoughtful, “Wow. I like that.”

You can feel the reverence and the spirit of truth enter into that studio as Chris is sharing. Though many won’t understand immediately, there is a spiritual reality that just met them at that moment. A choice entered the room. A choice to lean into the light.
