A Christian entrepreneur was so excited upon receiving the news that they would have a baby boy. But his only son took his last breath just an hour after birth. Despite the devastating loss, he and his wife chose to worship God and praised Him through it all.

“All Mordecai knew in this world was LOVE,” Steve Penate shared while remembering his last moments with his baby boy, Mordecai.
Steve and his wife, Esther, were ecstatic knowing they would welcome their third child. Moreso, they were jumping with joy when they learned that, finally, they would have a son after having two daughters.
“I have not been able to stop smiling all day… my son! I love him so much already,” the businessman said.

“Our hearts are broken, shattered, an unexplainable pain that pierces deep into our souls. In his mothers loving arms, the son we prayed for, stepped into eternity, a place where pain and sorrow is no more.”
Despite the pain, the Penate family worshipped the Lord all the more. “We filled the room with worship, thanking God for the gift and life of our son Mordecai.” Steve added, “We thanked God for His faithfulness, we thanked God for His Goodness.”

Moreover, they felt God’s nearness at their most vulnerable time. “The moment Mordecai took his last breath, we felt the closeness of the Holy Spirit. He was here. He was with us in that moment. The comforter was in the room. GOD WAS THERE.”
“We will never have answers that suffice. Our human minds will never understand. We don’t get to choose our pain. WE TRUST GOD. Our hearts posture is fully submitted to the anchor of our souls, Jesus alone.”
