A Christian channel in Beirut broadcasted an episode where Christians were seen sharing testimonies and worshipping on a rooftop. In a place overlooking devastated Beirut, they prayed for hope and restoration and the power of God.
SAT-7 ARABIC featured a special episode, From Heart to Heart with Marianne and Rawad Daou as presenters. They prayed, worshipped, and listened to testimonies of survivors hoping to bring comfort for the watchers in Beirut.
Alan Khalil, a guest in the show, shared how his non-Christian friend praised Jesus for the protection of his family. “He kept saying ‘Oh Lord, Oh Lord!’ as he was digging out the piles of broken glass,” Khalil narrated. “Afterwards he checked the hospitals and found his family was not there and said, ‘Thank God, He saved our family!’ This was the first time in his life that he confessed, saying, ‘No science or reason could have saved my family – nothing except Jesus Christ!’ This was close to my heart,” he said.
Jesus can only save Lebanon
Father Kabi Al-Awad, a guest speaker on the show, encouraged Christians in Lebanon to take action in these trying times. “This is not the time for us to argue with one another. It is the time for the Church to play its role and be the light. There is only one who can save Lebanon, and that is Jesus.”
Meanwhile, fellow guest speaker Father Touq, assured viewers that holding grudges will not help the healing of the community and nation. He affirmed the power and peace that forgiveness can bring. “If you don’t get angry, you are not [human]. But a grudge will destroy you and destroy others. It will tear down your family and your future. If you forgive, you will live in peace.”
Moreover, George Makeen, the programming director of SAT-7, commended the efforts of the staff of the program. “My heart is with you,” he says. “I’m so happy to see you wonderful young people helping us look at tomorrow in a different way. May [Lebanon] continue to be a lighthouse for the rest of the Middle East.”
