Kanye West’s Jesus Is King album dropped October 25, 2019 and people are talking.

Since the album dropped, many Christians have been speaking up about the album. Many don’t understand how West, a rapper, went from rapping about sex, money and other sinful topics to praising Jesus and bringing glory to God. Christian artist, Lecrae,  hopes West’s transformation to the Gospel will allow other religious rappers to “appreciate the spotlight on Jesus in places where we may not have had an audience.”

Lecrae also shared in a recent interview with Billboard that Kanye’s religious epiphany is a positive step in the hip-hop community and how the genre’s fans might perceive Christianity. “Often people can’t imagine people from the hip-hop community finding Christ,” he said.

Lecrae is not the only public figure in the Christian community to speak up. Jimi Cravity reported that he attended a Sunday Service and exclaimed it being “incredible” and that he was excited for album.

Duck Dynasty star, Sadie Robertson, also spoke about the album in a recent YouTube video. In the video, entitled Kanye West and Jesus Is King from a Christians Perspective, Sadie said that she loves the album and has been listening to it daily.

Kim Kardashian Talks About The Transformation Of Kanye West

Sinful To Jesus Is King?

Many don’t understand how West, a rapper, has gone from rapping about sex, money and other sinful topics to praising Jesus and wanting to bring glory to God.

Sadie talked about how many people are skeptical about West’s transformation and becoming a Christian. She went on to read a line from his song Hands On that says,

“Change, he ain’t really different
He ain’t even try to get permission
Ask for advice and they dissed him
Said I’m finna do a gospel album
What have you been hearin’ from the Christians?
They’ll be the first one to judge me
Make it feel like nobody love me
They’ll be the first one to judge me
Feelin’ like nobody love me
Told people God was my mission
What have you been hearin’ from the Christians?
They’ll be the first one to judge me
Make it feel like nobody love me.”

Sadie went on to say that as Christians we are supposed to love and for someone to say that they don’t feel that way makes her sad. Sadie also talked about Paul from the bible. Paul was a man, once Saul, who was arresting and murdering followers of Christ until the Lord radically changed Saul’s life and he became Saul. What we don’t understand is that God is using certain people for certain tasks. For those who don’t believe Kanye West has changed, Sadie says we need to pray for him because if Jesus says you are set free, you are free indeed. Much like Paul, Kanye West is now giving glory to God.

Revival

As Christians, we are always looking for revival. We are all always asking God to use us or use somebody to get through to a group and when He does was say, “Oh wait! Not them.” In other words, we need realize that God has chosen that person for a reason. We need to celebrate that God is being glorified no matter the source.  Jesus Is King is bringing glory to God and I believe it is and will turn people to God.
