There are situations in our lives that we can’t comprehend — things that only God can understand, things that are out of our control. But despite those unexpected events, we can trust that God works all things towards good.
Just like the inspiring story that Beth Goins shared in Love What Matters. Beth and her husband, Allen, were facing fertility problems. They went through a series of tests and after several failures, the couple was losing hope. Beth even started to question God.
“I held back tears when people asked innocently why we hadn’t had kids yet. Doubts crept in. Was this because of some unconfessed sin in my life? Did God not want me to be a mother? Why was it so easy for everybody else to get pregnant? When would it happen?” Beth wrote.
In the summer of 2011, Beth and Allen began to look into adoption. When Beth’s father-in-law contacted them with good news about a friend who wanted to place their child for adoption, they immediately jumped at the opportunity. They gratefully welcomed a baby girl into their family.
Later in June of 2014, they adopted another baby who happened to be the full biological sister of their first adopted baby.
A few years later, the birth mother of their two adopted kids was pregnant again, and this time, it was a boy. Their hearts yearned for the precious child to be with them as well. And by the grace of God, they successfully adopted the child. With the adoption of the three biological siblings, they felt their family was complete. But God had other plans…
After years of trying to conceive, they received life-changing news.
Beth was pregnant!
“The years and years of crying every month over another negative test, money thrown into another procedure that didn’t work, watching literally everyone I know get pregnant and the one thing I yearned for, still not happening. All of those things were worth it, to hear that I was carrying a child inside of me.”
On December 20, the couple welcomed another precious baby into their family. A baby girl prayed for by so many for over a decade — their beautiful surprise and miracle from God.
This testimony powerfully proves that God has a beautiful plan for all of us. Even if we may not understand what is happening in our present situation, God will give us blessings far beyond our own imagination.
