A 25-year-old COVID-19 patient miraculously walks out of the hospital after being declared brain dead.
COVID-19 Patient Recovery
In May 2020, the 25-year-old Tionna Hairston contracted the coronavirus while taking care of her mother who also contracted the virus. Thankfully, her mother Stacey Peatross, recovered from the disease, however, Tionna’s condition took a bad turn.
Tionna’s symptoms grew worse and eventually, she was admitted to the hospital. After having several strokes and heart attacks, doctors lost their hope and declared her brain dead.
“They thought that we should take her off of life support because she had no hope for life. They thought she would be a vegetable. She wouldn’t have any quality of life at all,” Stacey said.
Faith In God
But because of Tionna’s faith in the God who raised Lazarus from the dead, she miraculously got better! Her friends, family, and some strangers also kept praying for her despite her seemingly hopeless situation.
“My faith in God and the fact that I wanted to walk again,” Tionna said in an interview.
After getting better from COVID-19, she was in rehab for more than a month to learn to eat, dress, and stand on her own again. On Tuesday, November 3, Tionna defied the odds and walked out of the hospital after defeating COVID-19.
The 25-year-old who was literally on her deathbed rose from the dead to go home, it was a miracle! The moment she stood by herself in front of her loved one, the hospital staff who took care of her and everyone else was in tears, praising God for the miracle they are witnessing.
“To see her rise up out of that chair and take steps when nobody thought she would ever be able to walk again … She said, ‘Mommy, I’m gonna walk,’” Stacey said.
