At President Donald Trump’s final midterms campaign rally in Missouri Monday night, a woman in the audience fainted and needed medical attention.
President Trump called attention to a woman in the crowd who needed help, asked for her immediate medical assistance, and kept things on pause while he waited for her to be cared for. But then something quite unique happened. Someone shouted, from somewhere in the crowd, “Let’s pray!” and as President Trump urged the people to pray, song broke out. People all around the room began to sing ‘Amazing Grace’ over the woman.
Before resuming his speech, the President expressed his gratitude to the crowd.
“That was really something, I want to just thank everybody.”
Truly it was something special. We can easily separate God from our politics but this event reminds us, He wants to be invited into the conversation, into the room. We must remember to pray God’s Amazing Grace over our country, our leaders, and over everything that divides us.
Let’s pray this over America as people take to the polls today.
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
The Lord hath promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
