Death is inevitable. No matter how, when, or where, death is certain for every person. The question remains, do we have any idea what comes after death? We might not know on our own, but the Bible teaches us many things.
Death originated from sin. Romans 6:23 reveals that it is the “wage of sin”. In other words, death is the consequence of our wrongdoings. The damnation received by men due to sin has led us to our demise. Furthermore, it’s not just eternal death in the flesh, but also in the soul.
2 Peter 2:4 states, “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.”
God is just and the word of God tells us that hell is certain for sinners. However, God loves His children. He made a way for us to enter His holy courts without breaking His just nature. In order to save us, He made Himself a fragile being just like us.
This letter from death mocks Jesus for His sacrifice when His own people didn’t even acknowledge Him when He came. Jesus’ response to death is so powerful that it can’t even match Him!
“He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” [John 19:30]
