How can one deepen their relationship with God? Today, Lorisa Miller, founder of Upper Room, shares with us practical tips on how to deepen our relationship with the Lord.

As leaders, our role is to lead people to God and teach them how to have a personal relationship with Him. We can’t be the mediator between people and Jesus. All we can do is point them to Him.
“Our role as leaders is always to connect people straight to Him,” Lorisa said. “It’s like you have a telephone, I’m not your telephone, but let me show you how to pick your own phone up and how to connect with the Lord.”
God wants to always be with us and He wants to take part in every aspect of our lives. Despite how busy you are, God is still with you no matter what.
“The Lord wants to be in every single part of our lives,” she explained. “He is like in the middle of parenting, in the middle of my kitchen, my car, my shower, like he’s in the middle of all of those things… No matter what state you find yourself in… no matter what I’m dealing with in my life, it’s that knowing that the Lord wants to be in the middle of that.”
Deepen your relationship
Lorisa then explained how can we deepen our relationship with God amidst our busy schedule. That practical guide to an intimate relationship with God is just being very real and open to Him.
“When I come to Him, what I do is I’m coming to Him and I’m like, I will open up whatever’s going on in my heart, and my life, and I turn it into worship.”
All we have to do is worship God and lay down all our worries unto Him. No matter how heavy your heart is, or how busy you are, just come to Him and He will give you rest.
“It says that we worship God in spirit and in truth, and so in truth means there’s nothing hidden here. So, I’m coming to You with all the things today Lord. Starting with that. Starting with just being very real and open with Him.”
