The effects of social media on women and moms.
In an episode of Christian moms, Marina Magdalena, Emma Browne, and Clare Hooper discussed the effects of social media on women, especially moms. Social media often portrays the best picture of one’s life, and most people tend to put filters on what they share on social media. Some even tell lies just to show people that they are happy and content in life.
Social media made a huge impact on many people’s lives, most women and moms.
“If only our lives are as perfect as they’re portrayed on social media,” Clare said. “I think it’s so easy to compare ourselves to other people, to other moms to other friends of ours. You can see another person’s life and it almost highlights the inadequacies that you feel about yourself and it can be quite damaging.”
Women & Moms
The pressure of being a mom has always been there even before the era of social media. However, it is through these platforms that those pressures are made more public. It highlighted the pressures that many women have been experiencing.
“I think there’s more public pressure and I think there’s more access to become that public person more. Whereas when I was parenting, although I felt the pressure, it was never lived publicly, it wasn’t the same way,” Emma explained.
“The pressure is there, I don’t think that’s going anywhere. That’s to do with our human nature to want to feel significant, what is my purpose in life.”
The pressure to be the Proverbs 31 woman has always been there for every woman. However, God doesn’t want us to be immersed in these pressures. God loves us the way we are and is happy for what we’re doing as a woman who represents His name and as a mom. Always remember your identity as a woman of God.
