The Philippines has been on lockdown for weeks now. Since then, many people have teamed up to help bring aid to those struggling to meet daily needs. But one elderly man blessed the hearts of volunteers when he asked for a new Bible instead of relief goods.
This story has been circling around social media because of his unusual request. Facebook username Dyn Nah shared her amazement on her page. She said that in a country full of citizens calling for relief aid, “here’s to this man” who is looking for a replacement of his torn bible. The man said, “Miss, do you have a new bible? Can I have one?” Dyn Nah remarked that it was her first time encountering such a heart.
“May we be reminded that in this crisis, it is not only about the material things we need but also HIS Word as we walk and go through in everyday challenges of life,” Dyn Nah wrote. She further added Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”
Indeed, many were moved by the man’s desire for God’s Word. Just this Sunday, Dyn Nah posted an update of the man’s case. He was given not just one, but two new Bibles with a version of his own language. “When God gave you more than you asked,” she said. She thanked the donor of the Bible while giving glory and praise to God!
Apparently, Dyn Nah’s encounter was a result of her working with a team in their community to reach out the locals living in the hinterlands of The Philippines. Their experience “allowed them to see the unseen situations of people in the mountain.”
