This video of Elly Brown worshipping God after half of her tongue was removed due to cancer is going viral! It now has over 10 million video views on Facebook!
Elly Brown was a professional singer, actress, model, and an on-camera host before she experienced a massive health scare a year ago. In May 2018, Elly had a life-altering surgery for tongue cancer.
Tongue cancer is a type of mouth cancer or oral cancer that usually develops in the squamous cells on the surface of the tongue. In Elly’s case, doctors had to remove half her tongue and a portion of her jaw to completely remove the tumor.
In order for her to speak again, surgeons rebuilt Elly’s tongue and jaw from the bone and muscle of her leg. By God’s grace, she is now back to singing despite difficulties in uttering words and with a different vocal range.
“Having radiation affected my range. What was once effortless makes me vocally tired very quickly,” she wrote on her Facebook video post.
The inspirational singer now uses social media to inspire and encourage everyone especially those who also have cancer. She challenges us all to pursue the things we love whatever life may throw at us.
“Maybe there is something you love that you think you ‘can’t’ do anymore. What would life be like if you just put down the ‘can’t,’ and started to practice?”
Elly’s trials are not yet over, just a year after her tongue surgery; she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. But that won’t stop her from continuing to inspire everyone with her testimony. Elly even sang a song showing her gratitude to God and reavealing how cancer changed her life for the better.
“This quiet song is my way of thanking God for reshaping my life through cancer,” she wrote in one of her videos on YouTube.
