God Provides The Split Second Rescue, He Is Always There

I don’t know about you but I learn the most valuable lessons from the simplest things. It is kind of like the concept of taking the time to just smell the flowers. I recently had a foot surgery which was a long time coming. I sometimes feel bionic (or just old, depending on what day it is) but I already had my knees replaced and now I needed my feet fixed? This is the part of aging no one tells you about (insert nervous laughter). Yet, God provides.

Finding Balance

Anyways, because I have what I call ‘bionic knees’ (aka fake knees), I have had to find my sense of balance from the rest of my body, and mostly my feet. It, therefore, is a tricky thing to have a cast, crutches, fake knees with no sense of balance, and NOT put any weight on the one foot. I had a doctor’s appointment so I had to navigate my way to the car, which was literally up as close as possible to my door. I was armed with my family on every side of me, just in case. Note to self – you can NOT hop on one foot that is on the end of a leg with no balance. But try I did. AND because there was a bit of snow it was slippery.

You guessed it. I was going down for the count! I felt my one lone foot slip, followed by the slow-motion collapse of my entire body. And I saw my life flash before my eyes – no joke, I saw my body shattered into pieces and I would be in traction for the next year of my life. All of that went through my mind in a split second. It was happening so fast no one could even help me.

And then, I sat down. On a chair. Wait. What? I looked up incredulously at my daughter while squeezing her arm with a death grip and I blurted out, “HOW AM I SITTING ON A CHAIR?” We all looked behind me and there was my 13-year-old granddaughter, who had decided to just quietly follow closely behind her Nani with a chair, you know – just in case. Because who even thinks of that! What?

God Provides

I learned a precious truth in that tiny pocket of fleeting time, otherwise known as a split second. I learned that when you think it’s over and there is NO hope (that you can see…) that God can send you a chair.

When the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea.” (Exodus 15:19)

The best visual of God making a way where was no way, was the seas parting for the people of Israel to pass through on dry ground. Raging waves became mighty walls of held back water on each side of them! I am sure they were as incredulous in their shock of being saved (on a much larger scale) as I was in my moment of impending doom.

For me, God sent me a chair. You never know what He will send YOU at that moment when you see no way out. He provides what you need, or who He may choose to provide the way out (Thanks Abigail!)

Carry on. For each of us, God provides. He already sent us Jesus.
