Whether you are a CEO of a giant corporation, a student attending classes, or a stay at home parent, life is filled with daily need: a checklist of must-dos, financial stress, maybe an ailing family member. We set out to accomplish everything on our own, but when we fail to meet expectations, we become discouraged. The weight of life settles like a wet blanket. Then we look around; we are not the only one burdened. The world is suffering too. We know as Christians we are called to pray, but when do we find the time? Remember, prayer time lays the foundation for your day. Just as you eat breakfast for your body, your spirit needs feeding. GOD TV prayer resources allow you to feed your soul and experience God in new and exciting ways.
God Calls Us to Prayer
I Thessalonians 5:17 teaches us to “pray without ceasing.” This does not mean we hide away in our closets; it means that our mindset is always set on a spiritual plane. We are to live life in a perpetual attitude of prayer. We are to be mindful of what is going on around us – sensitive to the Spirit moving and to react when we need to. Then we can be ready for whatever comes your way; ready for the moments when life throws a curve.
An attitude of prayer not only gives us a better attitude; we can be the difference to another person’s checklist. God asks us to pray:

-
- For our neighbors – A neighbor is more than the old lady with the cats who live next door. Our neighbor includes everyone. Jesus was asked this question, and He answered with The Parable of the Good Samaritan. Other examples for us come from James and Matthew.
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” – James 5:16
“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” – Matthew 5:44
-
- For our churches – This is not only just for the building or congregation you call home. It is the universal church – the Kingdom of God. Paul asks the readers of II Thessalonians to remember him and his ministry. Paul desires God’s Word to be spread and to be accepted by those who hear. He knows that he cannot accomplish his task alone. He knows he needs God to lead, the Spirit to go before him, and the prayers of the saints to give strength to his journey.
-
- For our leaders – Republican or Democrat, Left or Right, Red or Blue, it does not matter. God has either appointed or allowed our leaders to be in office. Not only are we to accept their authority, we are to pray for them. I Timothy 2:1-4 expresses this requirement of those that follow Christ.
-
- For ourselves – Let’s be honest. Most of our prayer life is rooted in personal needs. We use prayer for others as filler to help us look and feel more spiritual. But that does not mean we should not pray for ourselves. God gives us another promise. In Luke’s gospel, we read about asking, seeking, and knocking. God answers prayer. When we are in need, take it to the Lord. We need to remember that our hearts must be aligned with His will and that our knee time should not only be for ourselves.
With so many personal desires and what God requires us to pray, even a prayer life can become overwhelming. We want to be obedient, but we also do not want to be selfish. A spirit-filled life is a burdened filled life. Meaning, God places burdens on our hearts for people. And God promises that through those burdens, he will answer our requests. But the greatest thing is that we do not have to do it alone. We can share those burdens with other believers. And GOD TV prayer partners are there to assist our spiritual life.
The Power of Prayer
Sometimes prayer is a struggle: we may have no clue of what or how to pray. This is probably one of the main reasons why people don’t pray. The vision many have is lying prostrate on the floor, wailing at the top of our voice. Or people envision sitting solemnly, hands folded, with complete concentration using big flowery words. Neither method will give you greater contact with the Father. Prayer is more about the heart than the position we are in.
Christ gives his disciples an example, in Luke 18. He explains the difference between prideful prayer and prayer that is rooted in humility. Our hearts need to be right before the Lord. Our intentions should be honorable and in line with the Will of God. As we read in James earlier, “the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
One verse has always stood out to me on the power of prayer:
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)
The word ‘all’ is all-encompassing. He will deliver us: either by removing it or seeing us through it. He also places other believers in our path that assist us: Other intercessors, other prayer warriors, to stand beside us, the way we stand with them. GOD TV prayer resources help us with our prayer life. When we lift up others and when we seek answers to our personal needs.
GOD TV Prayer Resources
God knows our hearts. Paul teaches us in Romans 8:28 that “we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” We do not need words to pray. Words fail us. We may even find ourselves in such a desperate moment that words escape us. Isn’t it amazing that our God knows us so well? Being in a broken state, we need to depend on the Holy Spirit, and we can also rely on others to intercede on our behalf. GOD TV prayer partners are available to come alongside you and agree in prayer for your need.
As we gather together and pray, His Word promises action from Heaven.
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
