God versus the human psyche – one of the most excellent debates in history is the existence of God and the subjective components of who He is. What is the right religion, and whose theology is the correct one? The primary debate that trickles into the subjective arguments is His existence.
Blinded By Our Limits
It is natural for man to believe only what the human eye can see. Man must witness events to believe in their occurrence. Deductive human reasoning will embrace the concept that if it is not seen, it does not exist. Yet, we understand we breathe oxygen. We cannot see air under the human eye’s capacity, but we know it exists. Perhaps we need to look at this inquiry beyond the allocation the human reasoning will allow.
Current events have revealed a time of turmoil. Impious behaviors and deviancy have overwhelmed global society. The pestilence COVID-19 has crippled infrastructures that once rivaled even the greatest of empires. Despite the advancement of technology, industrialism, and innovation, the pandemic has hindered emergency management’s great action plans. These events have resulted in food insecurity and have brought us to the brink of financial collapse.
Where Is He
Throughout these challenging and unprecedented times, people of faith are asking, where God is through all this? Where was He when people were dying? Where was He when this pestilence ran across the globe with such intensity as a hungry lion devouring a city with full velocity? How can He allow this? When is He going to intervene?
Good vs Evil – the Eternal Conflict
Since the dawn of time, there has been a belief that up is right and down is wrong. In Judaism and Christian theologies, those who live a pious life will be rewarded and granted access to heaven—those who have lived and embraced wickedness would be tormented within the “Fires of Hell” for eternity. Revisiting the question, does God exist? You cannot believe in evil without the belief that good exists.
Light and dark cannot occupy the same space, yet one does not exist without the other. God is depicted as a beautiful holy being clothed in a magnificent white robe adorned with gold trims that reflect His royalty. His nemesis Satan is always furnished in the opposite of this great depiction. “Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12)
Humanity and earth were part of the divine intelligent design. He created the world to be a paradise for his creations, and humankind was to be the guardians of this vast enigma. However, out of man’s disobedience, the inherited heaven on earth was removed from our guardianship, and we were evicted from this grand paradise.
I Believe For I Have Witnessed
I believe that God exists in this world through us and in our spirit. In our words, thoughts and actions magnify His presence in our lives that create the ripple effect of love and charity into this world. God asks to be invited into the altar of our hearts. He aims to commune with us through His grace to reclaim what was once ours. “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)
I saw God during the frontlines of COVID-19. He was witnessed in my colleagues, doctors, nurses, emergency responders, our military, and everyday people. Unimaginable glimpses of light during the darkness fostered hope and faith in Him. It was divine love that gave us the strength to stand firm selfless in service. God’s love is like the sun shining upon all, yet the canvas determines its reflection!
