You know, guys, God really, really, really cares about family. I’m married, I’ve been married for five years, and I have a four year old daughter, and I was raised by Christian parents. I grew up in a home where my dad was a pastor, and I knew God in, you know, theory, but I felt like it took me a while to actually know Him relationally. And so, as being a husband and as a father, I often think about how can I share Jesus with my wife and with my daughter, and create just a family that’s centered around the gospel and centered around God?
And one thing that I know is that, you know, we all have our different relationship with God. And I felt like God has really challenged me to explore with my daughter and with my wife. How, how does God speak to them? And that I wouldn’t take how God speaks to me and try to make that the standard for them. And so, you know, when we’re together and we’re, you know, just even driving in the car, maybe a topic or something will come up and I would ask them, “Hey, what do you feel like God is sharing to you about this situation?” And then even asking my four year old daughter, “Hey, what’s God’s saying to you about this?”

There’s really a freedom for us all to bring our own unique expression and our own unique history and relationship with the Lord together. And I feel like it creates this puzzle. You know, it’s like I have one piece, my wife has a piece, and my daughter has a piece. And when we bring them together, we actually get the bigger picture of this is what God’s speaking. And, just a cool testimony in that. You know, having a four year old, I share with her, “Hey, if you don’t know anything else about God, I want you to know that He loves you and that He’s speaking to you.” And we just kind of leave it very simple for her, you know, she’s four. And she came up to me the other day and she said, “Hey, I was praying, and God told me that I’m supposed to sing my own song.” And I had never talked to her about singing her own song, and so I knew that that was from the Lord, and I was stunned. Like I’ve never even really taught her how to pray. I just taught her, “Hey, God loves you and He speaks to you.” And it’s, it’s really cool just to see, you know, even with a four year old, where the Lord’s speaking to her.
And so I just encourage you with your family, that you would actually invite them to explore God with you together as a family, that you would release any pressure of it all looking the same. And by that you would just create just an invitation, and just that freedom of, hey, we’re all a part of this family and we’re all a part of the family of God. And so what is God speaking? What is He doing? And how can we all bring our different parts together?
