Burnout. Stress. Uncertainty. We’ve all experienced it. Some of you reading right now have been struggling to breathe with the overwhelming circumstances that are bombarding and blindsiding you from various directions. I invite you to pause…take a deep breath…and repeat after me:
“God’s got this.”
What is your “this”? What have you been stewing over mentally? What have you been carrying in your own strength, only to feel the weight of exhaustion getting heavier and heavier? When we recognize what we try to handle, we can make the choice to ask God to enable us to face and overcome the “this”. Whatever we try to do in our flesh will fail miserably. John 15:5 states that apart from Him we can do nothing.
Soar Like an Eagle
How freeing it is to release the weight of our circumstances and soar by the power of His Holy Spirit! Watching an eagle in flight is a beautiful illustration of trusting the Creator. Other birds look like they work themselves into a frenzy as they flap their wings incessantly. What distinguishes an eagle is its ability to catch the wind currents to help it soar above the storm. Scripture explains the symbolism of an eagle as it correlates in the life of a believer.

“Those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength. They shall soar high on wings like eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
What Waiting Looks Like
Waiting is not a passive activity. Often, the word “wait” gets viewed negatively. In this fast-paced society, everything is “go, go, go”, so “waiting” is often considered a hindrance or an annoyance. However, it is imperative, that we seek the Lord first and wait on Him every day. So, how do we wait? One of the best ways to wait is to make time for God and to read His Word. The Bible is our guide book and is filled with the Father’s truths and promises. A Scripture that you have read in the past can be highlighted to you by the Spirit and encourage you in the current season or situations you are experiencing. Just like an eagle waits for the wind currents to soar above storm clouds, we as Christ-followers must allow His voice and His Spirit to uplift us as we soak in His truths, in order to rise above the storms of life.
Symbolically, the Holy Spirit can help us rise higher and soar farther as we wait on the Lord and ask Him to lead us. When we release the need to run around in circles and follow the example of the eagle in flight, we save ourselves a lot of wasted energy.
While we marinate Scripture in our hearts, our perspective of God grows, our relationship with Him deepens, and our difficulties get smaller as we focus on His power. The Lord’s voice speaks through His Word and His Spirit and gives us inner strength to face what we could not on our own. His grace is sufficient to accomplish everything the Heavenly Father puts in our hand.
Friend, may you get a second wind, His Holy Wind, that carries you through to the finish line.
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
