God’s Love never wavers.
Mission For Love
Once I gave my life to Jesus, I went on a mission trip every year to Mexico to serve orphanages during the holidays. One year, in particular, was extremely special to me. One, because the children were so sweet to me, and two because God revealed something even sweeter to me.
The orphanage we visited this particular year was in Tecate, Baja California Mexico. The orphans there were either found homeless or given up by their mothers. The red light district in this area was great in number. When we arrived at the orphanage, the children ran up to us expectant of our arrival and clung to our sides. Desperate for love and affection, the children would fight over who got to be carried by each of the missionaries.
Oil of Love
Later on, the pastors gave us a tour of the land and it was quite beautiful. Surrounded by mountains, and 200-year-old olive trees surrounded the orphanage in numbers. The land was drowning in olive oil and God’s Presence was heavy.
We got to serve their “baby house” where they keep the newborn orphans. Swaddling each baby in all their innocence and baby glory! It was wonderful. I couldn’t help but wonder about the abandonment of something so special. My heart grew more and more tender as I spent more time with each child. The love they had never wavered regardless of what they had gone through. They had so much to give. Not in material, but in love. Love never fails.
Olive
My heart grew extremely tender by lunchtime. I couldn’t help but take a walk to process my heart and emotions. The land was beautiful. The sun beamed on the greenery of the land. I came across olive trees row after row and God began to speak to my spirit. He reminded me of Psalm 52:8, “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.”
To this day, olive oil is used as an anointment for deliverance, miracles, wonders, and healings. It makes me think that the children who get to call this place home were put here for a reason. God’s Love is present and it heals. He knew they would meet Him there.
God’s Love never fails nor wavers. His love never abandons you and is the foundation of your faith.
