“And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me… See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:5,10
In God’s kingdom, its system runs differently than the world’s. If you want to receive more, then give. You do not attack your enemies. Instead, you love them. And children are essential. They are placed in a higher position and value in the Kingdom of God.
In comparison, the church sees children as noisy and irrelevant. In families, they have no voice in making decisions. But, Jesus sees their true purpose and role. He sees them as valuable and essential.
If we could look at things from a child’s perspective, we will be amazed how their innocence and faith can bring so much sense. That’s why Jesus tells us to “change and become like little children, [so that we will] enter the kingdom of heaven,” (Matthew 18:3).
A child’s humility, trust, and purity are often lost as we age. But, these values are important to enjoy growth and life.
So, may we never look at children as irrelevant in our community. Let us even learn from them. Shalom!
