Falling away from the Lord is not an instant move. It comes from our “innocent” decisions that gradually lead us to fall out of love with God. But, before we could get there, God gave us warning signs.
For this week’s devotional, we will have a series of reflections on how to avoid falling away from the Lord. And we will be looking at Luke 22 as our reference Bible passage and the apostle Peter as an example.
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” Luke 22:31-33

One sign of falling away from the Lord is being SELF-CONFIDENT.
Peter was so sure of himself. He believed that he could follow Jesus up to prison and even death. But we knew what had happened. Before a rooster crowed that day, he denied Jesus three times.
Peter trusted his abilities than depending on God.
Galatians 6:3 says, “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.”
Surely, we are nothing apart from the Lord. Everything is by the grace of God. May it be a simple task or a challenging one, we cannot do it outside the grace of God.
Today, let us stop deceiving ourselves and see God’s hand at work in our midst. It is not by our strength, but of God. Instead of being self-confident, let’s have a godfidence – a godly confidence in our powerful Father and God. Shalom!
