Falling away from the Lord is not an instant move. It comes from our “innocent” decisions that gradually lead us to fall out of love with God. But, before we could get there, God gave us warning signs.
For this week’s devotional, we will have a series of reflections on how to avoid falling away from the Lord. And we will be looking at Luke 22 as our reference Bible passage and the apostle Peter as an example.
“Then seizing Him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.” Luke 22:54
For the fourth day of being alert on avoiding falling away from the Lord, we will look at Peter’s actions and how he FOLLOWED AT A DISTANCE.
Following Jesus at a distance is a choice we usually make, unaware that it corrupts our hearts slowly.
We follow Jesus, yes, but we don’t follow him that close, that strongly, that sometimes, we take our relationship with Him for granted.
We don’t prioritize our prayer time anymore. We only read the Bible from Christian Facebook pages. Our love for God grows cold.
So, today, be intentional with your relationship with God. Cultivate it so it will grow and develop. Keep Him as your first love. Shalom!
