“‘Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the LORD. For I am a Great King,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and my Name is to be feared among the nations.'” Malachi 1:14
May we never forget that the God we serve is an Almighty God, and His Name is to be feared among the nations. May we never forget that He is worthy to get the best from us. And that He does not deserve to be cheated upon.
How can we say that we cheat on God? During the times of ancient Israel, they cheat on God by not giving Him the acceptable offering. Instead, they present a blemished lamb for sacrifice.
But, since we no longer need to offer God animal sacrifices, there are also things that we cheat on God. Today, we present God our daily offerings of praise and worship. We cheat on Him when we only give Him what is left of us and not the best of us.
May we remember how David exampled his best offering to God. He said, “I won’t offer to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” (2 Samuel 24:24)
