“If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” Matthew 5:41
The phrase “Go the extra mile” originates from the Bible. It referenced Jesus’ instructions where He preached how to behave like a faithful follower of God. And as God’s followers, we ought to “go the extra mile.” If someone asks us to go with him for a mile, then go with him for another.
It teaches us that following God is not convenient. It is opposite to the world’s norm. And being different from how the world functions are not easy. But, in Jesus, it is worth it.
Jesus calls us out of our comfort zones and into “walking water.”
Why so? Because He is highlighted in our weakness. When we are weak, then He is strong. When we don’t have enough, He is more than enough.
It helps us trust Him more and exercise our faith.
The road to following Jesus may be narrow, but it is quite an adventure!
