“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:1-4
Paul instructed the Philippians to serve and be selfless. But, such things are difficult with our strength. That’s why Paul started the verse with the solution: be united in Christ.
Being united in Jesus and fellowship with the Holy Spirit puts us in a humble position. It leads us to see others above ourselves, looking at them just as how Jesus sees them.
And through His model, we can serve selflessly. We are secured with our identity as children of God to help others with honor and love freely.
