Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.” 1 Kings 18:22-24
The famous confrontation between Elijah and the prophets of Baal teaches us that you and God are the majority.
Although Elijah was the only one left of the Lord’s prophet, he was unafraid to face the 450 idolatrous priests. He was confident in the God who called him because he knew that the God he served was superior to all other things. Indeed, he stood victorious against all of Baal’s priests.
May this remind us that the God we serve is the One True God. And we should not be afraid of the persecutions that we may face in the world. You may be the only one in your workplace, peers, or family who believes in Jesus, and they may mock you because of it. But, stand your ground. Though they may outnumber you, you and God are the majority.
