Texas Gov. Greg Abbott points Texas to faith and Jesus amid the state’s battle against coronavirus pandemic.

During a Zoom interview with Pastor Jack Graham of Prestonwood Baptist Church, the governor presented their next phase in containing the virus. The Texas government is gradually opening the state back to normal with loosened restrictions and observed guidelines.

Moreover, the Republican leader shared wisdom and encouragement with regards to facing crises in life. The 62-years-old reassured viewers by telling them “they have support you can lean on that will always be there for you, and that’s Jesus Christ.”

Greg Abbott and his test of faith

Graham asked Abbott to share his personal experience that prepared him to face hard ordeals in life.

Abbott answered by recalling his back injury that left him paralyzed and wheelchair-bound when he was just 26 years old. According to Abbott, his suffering tested his faith and made him question God.

“But, very importantly,” he said. “I found in the aftermath, that as I continued to reach out to God, I found God reached right back out to me. And my relationship with God and Jesus Christ grew even closer after that accident. It empowered me to go on and become the governor of the great state of Texas.”

The governor exhorted that God “never promised us a life free of storms”. Instead, He promised, “a pathway through those storms.”

“That’s what I’ve seen in my own life and that’s what I’m seeing in Texas,” he said.

Abbott affirms that prayers are being answered as the coronavirus curve is starting to lessen.

“God’s hand is working through the scientists across this great nation by coming out with fast, innovative drugs that would lead to therapeutic remedies,” he said.

Ultimately, Graham and Abbott agreed that God will be the One who carries Texas and the rest of the country through this pandemic.
