The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
This year, Lent started on Valentine’s Day, 14 February, and we think that couldn’t be more perfect.
What better way to celebrate love than to celebrate the source of Love?
The Cross is the greatest love story ever told and during Lent, we reflect on Perfect Love’s sacrifice.
“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:9-11)
Traditionally, Lent has been a time when Christians fast and pray as we all prepare our hearts to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. Many Christians choose to fast by giving up certain foods, their favourite gourmet coffee, or a luxury such as a weekly movie or dining out.
The very act of giving up these things helps us realign our priorities and reminds us to live by the Spirit, not the flesh.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
