Thanks for joining us for our Bible scripture for today!
Today, we’ll be reading out of Psalm 94 – But before we begin, feel free to press play on “Lean Back” from Capital City Worship. I think it’s a perfect representation of the goodness of God that is exemplified in this verse!
It can be easy to forget how close God really is. Although He is omnipresent, sometimes He can feel really far. When emotions seem to be more convincing than the truth of what we know about God, it’s a good time to go to the Word and re-enter into His presence. That’s what we will learn from the Bible scripture for today!
“If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” (Psalm 94:17-18)
Before my foot even slips, He holds me up. In the moment my heart is needy, He is there to cheer me up.
Bible scripture for today
We know this in theory – We know that we’re “supposed” to believe that God is always there for us, always present in our time of need, but unless we begin to experience this truth, it will only ever remain as theory.
The transformation of our hearts is the product of more than just positive thinking. The transformation of our hearts happens when we surrender our lives at the feet of the Father. When we hold too tight to an idea, outcome, opportunity, etc., we are simply interacting with a spiritual reality of fear – trying to force the hand of others, God, and even ourselves.
Fear tells us that we are the only ones who can fix a problem, where love says, “When I thought, ‘My foot slips,’ your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.”
God functions from a place of righteousness, peace, and joy. We learn His ways by learning to surrender to His ways and to see that His ways truly work out so much better than ours.
Jesus is passionate about you and only desires for you to trust Him with every coming breath.
