God doesn’t want our good intentions, what He truly wants from us is our obedience to His Word.
God’s instructions
South African evangelist Angus Buchan shares what God really wants from His children. He referenced 2 Samuel 6: 6-7 to emphasize that we really have to follow God’s instructions.
“And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error, and he died there by the ark of God.” – 2 Samuel 6: 6-7 (NKJV)
Even though Uzzah’s intention for his action is good, he still disobeyed God. What He truly wants from us is not our good deeds, He only wants our obedience.
“You see folks we need to understand one thing, if we’re going to be God’s children, we have to do it according to God’s plan. We must do it according to the instruction given to us by God. Trying to help by doing good work does not always suffice, it’s not good enough. A good intention is not what God wants, He wants obedience.”
He wants our obedience
“It’s not good enough to have good intentions or even to be sincere, but we need to know the Word of God.”
We follow what the Lord says to us in His Word. In everything we do and in every decision we make, we should first seek God’s Word about it. In our obedience to Him, there are blessings that await us.
“You need to start doing what God has told you to and not what you think is a good idea… Do what He tells you to do and then you’ll have joy and peace and prosperity.”
