Trauma
Healing is a journey. In 2014, I was diagnosed with a rare type of Bone Cancer called Osteosarcoma. My life changed in an instant and the experience was traumatic, to say the least. After a year of treatment, I slowly started to transition back into “normal” life. It wasn’t until a few years later that I realized the trauma my previous season had on my mind. The residue of sickness and the fear that came with it.
Healing Comes
The revelation came during my first year at Bethel’s School of Supernatural Ministry. Things of my past were being brought up. Things that triggered old, but lingering feelings and emotions. In my realization of fear and pain, healing was taking place. God was taking me back to places that I never thought I’d go back to. Although, I didn’t completely understand why I was at peace knowing He was with me. I had to go back in order to move forward.
“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Emmanuel
God wants to heal you. He wants to heal past wounds or freshly deposited ones. Sometimes, trauma is too much a burden to look back upon. Often times, we’re quick to search for the light at the end of the tunnel instead of searching for the light in the midst of the tunnel. It’s always been Him and He’s always been in You. God in You. God with you. Emmanuel. Comparatively, trauma can be scary, but the result of not healing from it is scarier. When God was bringing up my trauma during my first year at BSSM, He said so clearly, “Now or later”. I chose now, so I didn’t have to deal with it later. And boy, I’m glad I did.
Press Into Healing
I encourage you today to reflect back. Additionally, ask Jesus if there’s anything in your life that needs tending. Anything that needs His healing presence. He wants to go back to that place with you so He can show you where He was. He wants to show you that you were never alone. Also, that in the middle of your dark tunnel, He was right next to you waiting for you to grab His hand. There’s healing in that. Press in! In Jesus’ Name.
