Pastor Arron Burke of Radiant Church shares some wisdom on how to deal with church hurt. He’s provided some practical steps believers can implement to remain grounded in their faith and purpose despite the pain.
Church Hurt
Most Christians have experienced some form of church hurt. As it has been said, the “church is not a museum for good people. It’s a hospital for the broken.” People are not perfect, even in the church.
Since we are all broken people in need of a Savoir, there will be times when we face adversity. But there are healthy ways to deal with hurt so as to honor God even in hard times. Because there is no perfect church, that includes leaders too. So, when you get hurt in the church, it is important to ask God how to respond.
How To Deal With It
Pastor Aaron Burke of Radiant Church shared some thing we can do “when the church hurts me.”
“Dealing with church hurt is never easy, but there are always steps that we can take to find healing,” the Radiant Church wrote. “God has a plan for all things regardless of our pain.
Here are some ways to deal with church hurt:
1. Acknowledge the hurt.
This is “the first step towards healing your wound,” according to Pastor Aaron.
2. Let the Lord deal with those who hurt you.
You have to learn to “let go and let God.”
3. Don’t confuse God’s people with God.
You have to fix your eyes on God. Don’t be surprised when people disappoint you because they are not God. They have imperfections too.
4. Don’t give up on all people because of some people.
When someone had hurt you in church, it doesn’t mean everyone is the same. Think about those who were there, those who genuinely cared for you. Pastor Aaron emphasized, “people can cause hurt, but they’re also the ones God uses to offer help and bring healing.”
5. Don’t forfeit your purpose because of the pain.
If you are that someone who have been deeply hurt by someone in church, just follow the advices written above. Surrender everything to the Lord and fix your eyes on Jesus. God wants you to be free.
