We all need a little encouragement once in a while. Especially now. I had to stop watching the news because I was feeling very discouraged on a regular basis. Watching a global pandemic play out, along with political turmoil coming from every corner of the country didn’t exactly put me in a chipper mood.
I feel like we live in this age of constant negativity. Someone is always insulted, everything is very cut and dry, there is a gigantic lack of empathy and understanding of where someone is coming from, and nobody can do anything right. Does not sound like a very uplifting, and encouraging environment at all.
Controlling What We See And Hear
We can’t control what is going on in the world, but we can control what we feed our souls via the news, media, and even those we allow into our inner circles. And as parents, we absolutely have control over what our children absorb into their minds and spirits. It is our job to make our home environment one of encouragement, hope, peace, joy, and empathy.

It’s not always easy, especially when everyone is melting down first thing in the morning and you haven’t even had your coffee yet. But I promise it is worth it to teach your children now that with Jesus the world doesn’t have to feel scary and hopeless. As Christ-followers we have a promise, an eternal hope, and through Him, we overcome the world.
John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Verses Full Of Encouragement
Here are some of my favorite verses that help fill me with encouragement when I am struggling:
Psalm 27:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Romans 8:31, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Matthew 19:26, “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Cling to these when you are feeling hopeless and your day will turn around!
