Security is something most people aspire to have. That’s why we inherently look for jobs to secure ourselves financially. Or eat healthy foods to keep ourselves from being sick. It’s simply part of our lives to meet our daily needs and survive in this world. However, this desire for security is often misplaced towards things. As a result, when we lose such a thing, we get broken, lost, and empty. We forget that things and people are temporary, and we could lose them at anytime.
Only then will we realize that our security can only be found in God.
Yes, we should solely place our confidence and security in God alone. Not in our jobs, possessions, status, and even relationships. Because if God is not your security, then nothing else will work.
When the pandemic happened, everyone was faced with this reality. People were forced to face their fear of losing the things they placed their security upon. Most especially with their careers. The closing of millions of businesses around the world resulted in millions also losing their jobs. Fear of death engulfed nations and slapped to the reality that all things in this world are fleeting in just a blink of an eye. And every heart was unveiled with the question, “is God really your security? Or is it with what you have?”
If you think your security has been misplaced lately, I encourage you to turn to God. Let Him deal with your heart. Acknowledge that He is your all in all, and no amount of money, power, or even relationships could ever compare to the security God can give.
It was Solomon, in all the grandeur and wisdom God had blessed him, who said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun, and have found them all to be futile, a pursuit of the wind” (Ecclesiastes 1:14).
At the end of the day, God is our only security. He is the Father who will always be there for us when everything around us changes. He will always be our constant when all things in us are strip away.
