Interior Minister Aryeh Deri has announced Israel will transfer NIS 31 million to the Arab municipalities as part of the balancing grant ahead of the end of the Muslim month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The early advancement of the balancing grant will assist the authorities in providing essential services to the residents, especially in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the need to prepare for the end of the Ramadan fast and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
Deri stated Wednesday that he has decided to advance the transfer of funds to the Arab authorities to assist them and the residents in their return to routine with the Corona and to allow them the necessary preparations for the holiday.”
“I wish the Arab society in Israel a happy Eid al-Fitr holiday,” he added.
Eid al-Fitr at the end of the month of fasting will be celebrated on Saturday or Sunday.
Ramadan events were low key in Israel this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Mosques were closed at the government urged families to have the Iftar end of the fast meal on in small groups.
